We are a board-led nonprofit organization registered in Ethiopia under the revised Civil Societies Law 1113/2019 with registry number 4908 in hopes of bringing a sustainable change in the lives of vulnerable children and youth in the country.
Chosen Generation is founded by Kaleab Tadesse and Raji Daniel, both experienced individuals in the humanitarian sector and passionate about helping those in need! Their involvement in humanitarian organizations since childhood has inspired them to establish this organization and fulfill their lifetime dream of supporting children and youth by the assistance of Making the Grade: Hope for African Youth (MTG), a registered 501(c) non-profit organization in The United States of America, and Shelly Dollar.
Having a combined of over ten years’ experience in the area of nonprofits, Kaleab and Raji are now working towards their vision of creating a country where children and youth aren’t a victim of poverty. Job Summary
We are seeking an Accountant to join our team at our Addis Ababa HQ. The Accountant will be responsible for financial transactions, bookkeeping, compliance, and financial reporting in line with organizational policies and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
- Process payments, manage petty cash, and ensure proper documentation.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Monitor budgets and expenditures to ensure proper fund utilization.
- Handle tax calculations, payroll processing, and statutory obligations.
- Maintain and reconcile bank accounts and financial statements.
- Support audits and provide necessary financial documentation.
- Ensure timely recording and tracking of expenses and income.
- Work closely with project teams and country director to support financial planning and reporting.
- Perform other duties as and when assigned by the country director
About You
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in accounting, preferably in an NGO setting.
Skills:
- Knowledge of IFRS, Peachtree, QuickBooks, or other accounting software.
- Strong understanding of donor financial compliance and reporting. o Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Additional Requirements

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
