Brief Introduction
REACH Ethiopia is a non-profit local organization established and registered as an Ethiopian Residents’ Charity. It strives to contribute to community development through the implementation of innovative and targeted project interventions to deliver quality health services for disadvantaged communities. Since its establishment in 2013, REACH Ethiopia has implemented community-based TB care interventions and integrated health service projects in Dire Dawa, Sidama, SNNP, Afar, and parts of the Oromia Regions.
REACH Ethiopia in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Afar regional Health Bureau is currently implementing project granted by Expertise France in Zone-3 of Afar Region. The overall goal of this project is to contribute to reducing TB morbidity and mortality in Zone 3 of Afar region and to accelerate national and regional efforts to achieve END TB 90 (90) 90 milestones by 2025 towards the National End TB target by 2035.
Position Summary
The Driver and Logistics Assistance will provide transportation support to project staff for project-related activities. The Driver maintains project vehicles and logs of vehicle use, cleans and follows up on vehicle services timeframe for the wellbeing of the vehicles in conformity with REACH Ethiopia’s Safety and Security Policies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Vehicle Operation
• Ensure the safety of passengers, shipment, and vehicle while responsible for driving authorized persons and transporting project goods in a timely, safe, and cost-efficient manner;
• Ensure that the project vehicle is only used for official/ authorized business persons
• Ensuring the readiness of the vehicle for transport service (including a daily check of water, fuel, engine oil, tires, brakes, fan, etc) and other parts of the vehicle before driving.
• Responsible for daily cleaning of project vehicles
• Follow up regular maintenance of the assigned vehicle to ensure roadworthiness
• Maintains records of vehicle usage (including fuel consumption, mileage, and trip logs) and security incident
• Ensure compliance with the organization’s travel policy and vehicle utilization policies.
• Performs project routine business, such as receiving and delivering official project documentation
• Regularly check post office boxes, collect and dispatch letters, parcels, and other correspondence
• Ensure that all vehicles are equipped with emergency equipment, accident kits, and key fleet policies visible to passengers decent manner;
Event Assistance
• Welcoming Guests and Identifying eligible participants at the start of the event.
• Receiving invitation letters and transportation receipts.
• Registering participants and following up on daily attendance.
• Providing relevant supplies, stationery, and training materials.
• Follow up with the hotel for timely and proper service delivery.
• Ensure security of properties in the training hall.
• Confirm and Sign on hotel bills and invoices.
• Effect payments to participants, trainers, and hotels at the workshop.
• Organizing training expenditures documents and preparing expenditures Seek review of training expenditures by the program coordinator and get approval by the budget holder.
• Deposit excess cash to Project REACH Ethiopia bank account immediately.
• Submit training advance settlement to the finance unit timely.
Summaries Logistics Support
• Assist supervisor in all procurement processes;
• Collect Quotations, receive procured goods and arrange transportation to their final destination(s);
• Collect and distribute mail and coordinate courier services.
• Organize store materials delivery from suppliers to warehouse, vice versa.
• Organizing training expenditures documents and preparing expenditure summaries
• Assist in preparing forms, documentation, and filing records.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor, which are in line with the general concept of this position.
About You
- Vocational/Auto mechanic diploma is required.
- At least five years of prior experience as a driver is required.
- NGO experience is a plus
- Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
- Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision.
- Computer literate and basic skills and qualifications in motor mechanics are added advantages.
- Proven punctuality and ability to work as part of a team and excellent references are a must.
