The People & Culture (P&C) Business Partner- Grants/Emergencies, plays a crucial role in the execution of the Human Resource Transformation Strategy. Partnering with emergency response areas Hub and Area Program Leaders in support of strategic business objectives.
Reporting to the Refugee Response Associate Director, P&C Business Partner (Grants and Emergencies), this role works collaboratively with Talent Acquisition & P&C Business Partners unit to deliver integrated HR solutions, including workforce planning, performance management, talent transformation, management and leadership development, digitalization, and all issues related to the rhythm of the P&C business.
He/She will encourage the use of innovative People Management/Organization Development resources, tools and practices to reinforce and positively change beliefs, attitude, operating models and structure of organizations to facilitate the delivery of Our Promise.
Major Responsibilities:
Staff recruitment, onboarding and orientation
- In support of hiring managers and WVE People and Culture, coordinate and drive staff recruitment processes, including JD development, job advertisement, short-listing candidates, scheduling written tests and interviews, and follow-up on reference checks.
- Support new staff through the onboarding process, ensuring that they have been fully oriented on WVE policies and technical aspects of their job and expectations.
Staff development and training
Assist managers to identify, recommend and approve learning and development opportunities for Project staff
People management / Performance management
- Together with WVE People and Culture, proactively respond to and manage performance, counselling, staff grievance and disciplinary issues as required, with a focus on building manager competency and ensuring proper documentation is captured at all stages.
- Support managers and staff in the routine performance management process
- Support WVE People and Culture in acting as an impartial mediator in disciplinary procedures and ensure they are administered in an equitable and fair manner, in compliance with all legal and labor regulations and requirements
Workday System update & follow up
- Ensure all positions holder reporting line carry out & update with any change
- Timely Review the medical & approve
- Follow up on the system the clearance process
Ensure & collaborate with managers for the mandatory trainings
Lead people well-being initiatives
- Plan and support team building exercises
- Coordinate staff social events
- Organize staff recognition platforms or events
- Help to foster a professional and collaborative culture of sharing ideas and interactions across departments, sectors and teams within the organization
Required Professional Experience
- 6 years of experience in Human Resources (HR) Business Partnering or related specialist role.
- INGO experience working in field operations and hardship locations.
- Strong consultation skills and experience influencing and interacting with senior leaders.
- Outstanding people and client relationship skills.
- Proficient in coaching, mediating, influencing, facilitation, presentation, communication, analysis, and problem solving.
- Thorough knowledge of human resource management practices and employment related legislation.
- Demonstrated HR experience in a multi-business & multi-cultural unit environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Able to communicate complex ideas and business concepts in accessible terms.
- Able to exercise excellent professional judgment
Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
- BA in Management, Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field.
Preferred: MBA, MPM or MPA in Public Administration.
- Professional membership of relevant HR body
- Experience in Workday or similar human resources information system
- Understanding/Training in local labor law
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledgeable of Ethiopian Labor Laws and relevant requirements.
- HEAT (hostile environment awareness training) and SRMT (security risk management training) or a UN equivalent
- Enterprise Risk Management Training
- Certification in trauma counselling or certain basic training in this area
- Adult Safeguarding Training
