1. Analysis of donor funding for forest communities’ tenure and guardianship in African dryland countries.

Tree Aid is seeking a consultant to assess donor funding for local forest communities’ tenure and governance in African drylands.

Tree Aid is committed to unlocking finance to best support local communities in securing their access and control rights over dryland forests. To advocate for this, we need to better understand the current state of international donor funding and priorities in relation to local forest communities’ tenure and guardianship across African dryland countries. This will allow us to identify gaps and opportunities in the funding landscape for Indigenous peoples and local communities (IPLC) tenure and forest governance in our region of operation.

This analysis will contribute to improving Tree Aid’s evidence base on this key issue, and inform and support advocacy strategies and external engagement…Learn More>>>

Tree Aid is seeking a consultant to examine forest governance models in African drylands, with particular attention to community-led approaches (tenure and governance). The research will analyse governance impacts on forest restoration, conservation, livelihoods, and food security outcomes.

This research aims to address this critical gap, contributing to an enhanced evidence base that supports Tree Aid’s advocacy initiatives and external engagement strategies related to community forest governance.

By examining the specific benefits of community land rights and forest stewardship over nature, communities, and climate outcomes, this study will provide vital insights that can strengthen advocacy efforts and inform policymaking in the region…Learn More>>>
