About the role
Education Development Trust are looking for a HR and Administration Manager to lead and manage the functions of the HR department and office administration for our new education and skills programme in Ethiopia. The programme will strengthen the relevance and quality of secondary education to ensure the successful transition of secondary students to tertiary education or the world of work by equipping them with relevant skills, knowledge and attitude through enhanced implementation of the competency-based curriculum.
The HR and Administration Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the functions of HR including staffing, administration of HR processes, management of benefits, and enforcing company policies and practices for the country office in alignment with the Global HR strategies. You will also lead the administration function for effective implementation and successful delivery of the programme’s key objectives.
As the HR Manager you will:
- Support in the designing, planning, and implementation of HR systems, policies, procedures, and best practices to strengthen country and global HR functions.
- Maintain in depth knowledge of country labour and other statutory requirements related to the management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Recruitment & selection of candidates for roles to attract, retain and develop the people needed for the delivery of the programme
- Provide support to programme and operational management around performance feedback, coaching, counselling, career development
- Oversee the effective provision of support services for the project in line with cost effective guidelines
Key qualifications for the role include:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Professional membership with a certified HR body with a current practicing license (where applicable)
- Significant human resources experience with a strong background in developing and implementing local HR policies, employment and selection, onboarding, contracting, payroll, training, career development, compensation and benefits, employee relations and employment law.
- Experience of dealing with administrative and operational HR functions at a supervisory level
- Experience in an NGO setting, preferably in an international development organization
- Strong analytical and planning skills as well as be able to demonstrate experience of working with computerized HR systems
- Advertising Salary: US$1950 – US$2150 gross monthly salary plus benefits
