MELA FOR HER is looking for a vibrant, energetic, experienced professional to take the Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH) Officer position. You will join a team of professionals united by commitment to a cause and shared values. Your main goal will be to plan and implement MHH training and awareness-raising activities, as well as to develop IEC resources and materials. Your work will ensure that MHH education reaches all women and girls in the country.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct supervision of the CEO of MELA, the position is expected to be responsible for the following tasks:

MHH Education and awareness-raising strategy development and implementation: Develop and implement MELA’s education and awareness-raising strategies, plans, and budgets; conduct learning needs assessments and managed feedback with the purpose of improvement and learning; design and implement tools to monitor and evaluate the impact of learning.

Menstrual Health and Hygiene Training: Plan, organize and carry out training of trainers (ToT) and capacity-building activities on MHH for a wide range of stakeholders; provide continuous technical support and direct coaching to the sales team during the implementation of their education activities, including setting targets as well as conducting follow up and providing feedback on their performance; development of MHM training manuals, guidelines, and IEC materials; in collaboration with other team members, actively seek out and support opportunities to expand our education activities through communication activities, partnerships/networking, awareness raising campaigns, projects and others.

MHH Awareness raising and advocacy:

Design and implement innovative and powerful awareness

  • raising, campaigns and advocacy actions. When needed, support research actions.
  • Coordination and networking: Coordination with partners, CSOs, and local authorities (health, education, and women’s bureaus) ensuring open communication and smooth collaboration at all levels; actively participate in national and international networks and forums.
  • Project management: Ensure proper management of MHH projects funded by private and public donors, including proposal and report writing.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned by the CEO.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • BSc/BA degree in Health, Education Sociology, or related studies.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant and proven community health promotion experience, preferably in the fields of reproductive and sexual health or menstrual health.
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of Menstrual Health and Hygiene.
  • Excellent understanding of the Health sector in general and the menstrual health sub-sector in particular.
  • Proven experience in training, facilitation and preparation of IEC materials.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Deep commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment and alignment with MELA’s vision, mission, and values.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direct supervision of the CEO of MELA, the position is expected to be responsible for the following tasks:

Production management:

  • Plan and draw up the production schedule;
  • Continuous analysis and monitoring of the production processes and productivity rates and adjust schedules, propose alternatives and implement improvements to the manufacturing process as needed;
  • Create and design an effective supply chain system to and from the workshop (flow of textiles from the warehouse to the workshop and flow of products from the workshop to the warehouse);
  • Monitor and ensure product quality standards and implement internal and external quality control systems;
  • Handle the administration and operational tasks of MELA’s production unit/workshop;
  • Manage and supervise external production units or outsourced factories;
  • Communicate at all levels on status and production availability and flag any delays or issues immediately; and
  • Ensure outbound delivery schedules are met and work towards deadlines.

Management of MELA’s production unit (factory):

  • Coordinate and work together with other departments in MELA to ensure the achievement of MELA’s objectives;
  • Resolve workshop-related malfunctions and respond to requests or issues;
  • Ensure proper use, safety and security of all workshop furniture, machines and equipment, including their timely maintenance and repair;
  • Handling incoming calls, incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails and letters, and other communications at the workshop;
  • Maintain files and records with effective filing systems and keep databases updated as needed;
  • Support the administrative and finance officers in monitoring workshop expenditures and asset and stock inventory.
  • Comply with laws, regulations and requirements, particularly in the areas of safety, health and environmental protection, and
  • Represent MELA in front of partners, government institutions and clients regarding production and product quality management.

Team management:

  • Responsible for selecting MELA’s production unit team;
  • In coordination with the HR and Admin Manager, review the team’s performance and identify training and career development needs; 
  • Develop and support the team to maximize their strengths and improve the efficiency of their work;
  • Motivate the production team;
  • Promote and maintain a harmonious working relationship with and among all production staff; and
  • Ensure that the company’s human resources policies are fully implemented. Sales & Marketing support:
  • Receive, plan, manage and deliver orders working closely with the Sales & Social Marketing department; and
  • Ensure that customer orders are completed on time, cost-effectively, and in accordance with quality standards and targets. Product development:
  • Together with other members of the MELA team, participate in the design and development of products that better meet women’s and girls’ needs; 
  • Continuous innovation and research of materials, fabrics, designs,suppliers, etc.; and
  • Participate in partnerships with individuals and institutions to promote, develop and improve MELA´s products. Logistics: 
  • In coordination with the Logistics and Supply Chain Management unit, strategically plan and manage logistics related to the production unit operations;
  • Monitor the level of workshop supplies and ensure stock levels remain adequate;
  • Identify and liaise with the production unit’s suppliers, when needed; and
  • Maintain and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements;
  • Undertake other job-related duties as assigned by the CEO.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Textile Engineering, Fashion Design, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is advantageous, but not required.
  • Additional certification or training in production management, quality control, or lean manufacturing is an asset.
  • 5 to 7 years of proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in textile or hygiene products.
  • Previous experience in managing or supervising textile production lines or sanitary product manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of eco-friendly and sustainable manufacturing processes is a strong asset.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and process optimization
  • Familiarity with textile materials, sewing operations, and quality control standards for hygiene products
