Job Description
DEC is a local CSO established in 2007 and re-registered in May 2019 as per the new Authority for CSO Proclamation by the Ethiopian government, bearing a registration number of 0009. The organization has five major programs: Child Well-being and Education Development Program, Gender and Life Skill Development, Employable Skills Development Program, Advocacy, and Humanitarian Emergency Program. DEC actively works in six National Regional States and one city administration of Ethiopia, namely Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Tigray, Gambela, Benishangul Gumuz, and Addis Ababa City Administration. DEC would like to recruit for the following position.
Accountant /Cashier
Role and Responsibilities
- Work as compiling and distributing payrolls, keeping inventories, compiling cost data, and keeping account books
- Collect cash, checks, and credit card payments from customers
- Make change accurately and efficiently
- Issue receipts to customers
- Maintain cash control over the register drawer and verify amounts are correct
- Answer customer questions as they arise
- Help with other tasks as needed, including managing shelves, tracking inventory and keeping the store clean
- Ensure DEC safeguarding policies are implemented at all levels in its project site;

About You
Qualification BA/MA
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field
NGO/CSO Experience
- 1-2 years
Additional Skill
- Good Experience, Proficient cashier and clerical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication in both the local and English languages.
- Willing to work in a harsh area, including on weekends and evenings
