Job Description
DEC is a local CSO established in 2007 and re-registered in May 2019 as per the new Authority for CSO Proclamation by the Ethiopian government, bearing a registration number of 0009. The organization has five major programs: Child Well-being and Education Development Program, Gender and Life Skill Development, Employable Skills Development Program, Advocacy, and Humanitarian Emergency Program. DEC actively works in six National Regional States and one city administration of Ethiopia, namely Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Tigray, Gambela, Benishangul Gumuz, and Addis Ababa City Administration. DEC would like to recruit for the following position.
Forman
Role and Responsibilities
- Supervise daily site activities and direct construction teams to ensure efficiency and quality.
- Assign tasks to workers and ensure proper use of tools, materials, and equipment.
- Ensure that construction work follows drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
- Ensure that materials are used efficiently and without waste.
- Coordinate with the storekeeper or logistics team for timely delivery of construction materials.
- Keep tools and equipment in good condition and report any damage or loss.
- Inspect work progress regularly to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to technical standards.
- Enforce safety regulations and ensure workers wear appropriate PPE.
- Identify potential hazards and take immediate corrective measures

About You
Qualification BA/MA
- MA/ MSc in Statistics, Social Science, Business Administration, Development Studies, or related fields of study
NGO/CSO Experience
- At least 3 years
Additional Skill
- Ability to work in a team and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Familiarity with local building regulations and the Gambella region is a plus
