Job Description

DEC is a local CSO established in 2007 and re-registered in May 2019 as per the new Authority for CSO Proclamation by the Ethiopian government, bearing a registration number of 0009. The organization has five major programs: the Child Well-being and Education Development Program, the Gender and Life Skill Development Program, the Employable Skills Development Program, the Advocacy Program, and the Humanitarian Emergency Program.

DEC actively works in six National Regional States and one city administration of Ethiopia, namely Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Tigray, Gambela, Benishangul Gumuz, and Addis Ababa City Administration. DEC would like to recruit for the following positions: Project Coordinator, Education in Emergency EiE Project Officer, Social Worker/Community Mobilizer, Meal Officer, Gender and Inclusive Officer, Finance Coordinator, Woreda Caher, and Guard

Finance Coordinator

Job Summary

Manage financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across budgeting, reporting, and expenditure tracking. They oversee financial planning, maintain records, support audits, and liaise with internal teams and external partners to uphold financial integrity.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Participates in budget preparations and ensures that approved program and budget plans are formally issued to departments and projects
  • Ensures that all financial & budgetary documents are filed and maintained according to the organization’s accounting & budgetary policies and as revised.
  • Makes support visits to projects and partners.
  • Performs internal audits of accounts payable, payroll distribution, fixed assets, etc.
  • Reviews and recommends modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Ensures timely responses to external and internal communications regarding financial

About You

Education Qualification

  • BA Degree in Accounting

NGO/CSO Experience

  • 5 Year

Additional Skills

  • Advanced PC skills, particularly knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel, as well as other financial software packages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and Knowledge of government grant and contracting procedures
  • Advanced skill in IPSAS and Knowledge of Peachtree
