Job Description

Job Title: Senior Program Communication Specialist

Reports To: Senior Director of SBC Design and Innovations

Overview of role:

The position holder leads the design of different social and behavior change approaches including media development, community engagement and capacity strengthening activities that foster ownership and lead to sustainable outcomes at different levels. He/she will coordinate with different project teams to make sure that all communication materials, job aids and media outputs necessary for SBC are produced on time. He/she will closely work with project implementation teams to ensure that community engagement activities are implemented, monitored and refined.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide overall guidance in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of SBC strategies and Human-Centered approaches
  • Facilitate the design, testing and implementation of innovative SBC approaches rooted in SBC theories and models
  • Work with relevant teams to identify points of integration for SBC and community engagement activities across different projects for efficiency and synergy
  • Design approaches and activities to spark and sustain social movements where appropriate to promote positive change across different issues
  • Design SBC approaches that foster social accountability for services as appropriate
  • Lead the development and execution of capacity strengthening mechanisms that directly contribute to the success and sustainability of project strategies
  • Provide necessary support for the CCP Ethiopia administration and procurement teams to ensure SBC tools are designed, developed and produced on time
  • Work with the regional offices to ensure that communication materials reach intended audiences
  • Contribute to the development and integration of sustainability strategies of different projects within work plans
  • Provide technical support as needed to government counterparts and partners on the design and implementation of SBC activities
  • Support the development of different project ideas and proposals with guidance from supervisor
  • Support documentation of SBC design process and outputs

About You

Minimum Desired Qualification and Attributes:

Desired Qualification and Attributes

  • Master’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or other related fields with 5+ years relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience leading and managing media and communication activities for non-profit causes
  • Working knowledge of multiple and multi-channel approaches of social and behavioral communication
  • Proficiency in English and Amharic, knowledge of other Ethiopian languages is a plus
