International Development Enterprises (iDE) is an international NGO working with the mission to create income and livelihood opportunities for poor rural households in Ethiopia through the various development projects implemented in different parts of the country. iDE is currently seeking to recruit a qualified IT/ MIS/ Communications and MERL Database Coordinator. Position: IT/ MIS/ Communications and MERL Database Coordinator (#1) Reports To: Head of Monitoring, Evaluation, Research & Learning (MERL)
Summary of Responsibilities:
The IT/MIS/Communications and MERL Database Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth deployment and ongoing function of information technologies used to gather, store and report data for the iDE Ethiopia programs. These systems include: mobile data entry and retrieval, custom apps in Salesforce.com, Kobo Collect, and other tools such as Excel and Google Sheets. She/ He is responsible for coordinating in developing success stories, photo and video production of projects’ impacts and dissemination for a wide range of audiences including donors, HQ teams, partners, government, etc.
Key Responsivities:
IT/Mobile Technology /Knowledge management related roles
- Lead the development of new systems and tools:
- New mobile forms (in TaroWorks, KOBO and an ODK-based salesforce tie-in);
- Modifications to data architecture and custom objects/fields in salesforce (in consultation with Global HQ and the MERL Team);
- New queries and reports to be set up in native Salesforce or third-party tools such as Excel Enabler;
- Train all users on proper use of IT tools;
- Administer key systems (manage user logins, registration, de-registration, etc.);
- Regularly check the integrity of existing systems (random data checks and function tests);
- Respond to requests for technical support from the field or iDE offices;
- Work with the M&E Coordinator and Global iQ to recommend and implement system improvements.
- Make sure that all technical systems are deployed in a timely fashion;
- Make sure that users understand how to properly use tools and ensure proper use;
- Make sure that all technical issues are resolved in a timely and responsive manner;
- Make sure that all users do their work efficiently and effectively;
MIS related roles
Video Production and Dissemination roles
- Produce videos on project Stories, Case Studies, Most Significant Changes(MSC), etc. and supervise the day to day activities of mediators and video producers, if the work is outsourced.
- Plan collection of basic information on villages, groups, farmers/ agro- pastoralists/pastoralists/enterprises, etc.
- Develop plans for screening, adoption, video production, training, refresher training, etc.
- Situate systems to ensure regular and timely reporting.
- Situate systems for proper and timely documentation.
- Situate monitoring and evaluation system including quality assurance framework.
- Conduct regular review meetings with field staff to monitor plan for the program.
- Participate in regular meetings with the iDE program teams to plan and report on the program
- Coordinate with other team members / subject matter specialists for planning and implementation of the program.
- Provide leadership and manage day to day affairs of the program.
- Ensure safe upkeep of all records and equipment.
- Participate in all trainings and meetings.
- Carry out all such other activities as may be deemed fit necessary for smooth implementation of the program.
Database Management
- Collaborate with the rest of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) team to draft and develop monitoring tools and data flows for project activities.
- Organize and conduct training of staff and enumerators in monitoring/evaluation data collection including mobile data collection, digital aggregation of paper records, and management of both excel/google sheet and salesforce based databases.
- Coordinate with project teams to document and provide entries into the global organizational KPI system within Salesforce.
- Liaise with HQ MERL team in maintaining project related Management Information Systems for iDE Ethiopia projects.
- Manage the iDE Ethiopia Shared Drive and produce and maintain standard operating procedures regarding the file management.
Communications
- Design MIS dashboards and reporting tools to ensure that decision-makers have visibility into how programs impact different demographic groups, enabling data-driven strategies.
- Coordinate with project teams to track and plan for communication related deliverables in projects.
- Travel and document relevant success stories, photo and video footage of project activities and communities who benefit from the projects.
- Lead in the development of iDE Ethiopia’s annual performance reports, highlighting key achievement across projects.
- Develop and manage social media channels of iDE Ethiopia on platforms such as LinkedIn and produce relevant content through newsletters, posts, and other visibility related activities.
- Liaise with HQ Communication team to align branding and campaign material on organizational standards.
Duty Station : Addis Ababa
Salary and benefit package: As per the scale of the Organization.

About You
Requirements:
- Graduated from a recognized university or college with a minimum of Bachelor degree in information technology, communication, MERL-related field.
- 5 years’ experience in IT/MIS/Communications/MERL-Database field.
- Demonstrated experience with development and/or management of dynamic databases, preferably cloud-based (specific prior experience with Salesforce.com platform is a strong asset, but not essential).
- Demonstrated experience with developing and supporting mobile forms for data entry (specific experience with TaroWorks, KOBO Collect, ODK and/or platform .
- Demonstrated experience in video production and editing and film production
- Demonstrated experience in developing communication products such as success stories, case studies, learning briefs, newsletters, social media posts, and so on.
- Strong demonstrated proficiency with , Google Workspace tools such as Google Docs, Sheets, Looker Studio, Google Forms, etc).
- Experience with Excel and its wide range of functions and formulas, advance level preferred.
- Experience with GIS software and standard statistical packages (Stata, R, SPSS) an asset but not essential.
- Experience working in poor rural communities and conditions with low technology adoption
