Position Summary
MERSA Media Institute (MMI) is seeking a skilled consultant to lead the formation and integration of Information Integrity Ambassadors (IIA) Clubs across four universities located in Addis Ababa, Oromia, Amhara, and South Central regions. This initiative builds on MMI’s ongoing efforts to promote democratic dialogue, peer-to-peer learning, and media and information literacy (MIL) among university students. The consultant will play a key role in supporting the establishment or/and integration of these clubs—either within existing student-led structures or as standalone clubs—depending on the university context. The consultant will guide the development of club constitutions, facilitate engagement with university stakeholders, support alumni involvement, and ensure the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) that guarantee sustainable collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Scope of the Work/Key Tasks
- Develop the constitution and relevant operational guidelines for the formation of the Information Integrity (IIA) Clubs , through a participatory process involving student and university stakeholders.
- Guide the review and finalization of governance documents to ensure alignment with university policies.
- Provide support and mentorship during the new club formation for the students participating and leading the initiative.
- Continued mentorship for the club and actively engaging ambassadors on how to lead and sustain the club after the formation.
Requirements
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in media literacy, youth engagement or university-level program coordination, particularly involving youth orientation and club formation.
- Demonstrated understanding of university structures, departmental operations, and student affairs systems, preferably within the Ethiopian higher education context.
- Experience with drafting governance and legal documents (e.g., constitutions, MoUs), with sound knowledge of institutional /Legal policy frameworks.
- Proven ability to coordinate and manage multi-stakeholder initiatives across diverse regions, with contextual awareness of regional dynamics.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills to engage effectively with MMI personnel, university stakeholders, and youth participants.
