Job Purpose:
- Provide technical oversight and quality control in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the renovation of health facilities.
SCOPE OF THE WORK
On site, supervision throughout the period of renovation works performed by contractors until their completion including assessment works, preparing BoQ and detail design documents. The supervision will consist of scheduled visits to the site, supervision of works fulfilled by the contractor, reporting i.e. ensure the renovation activities are being made in accordance with the approved Bill of quantity, drawings, and specifications, Monitor the choice of appropriate materials and finishing works.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the engineering unit lead and in close collaboration with the cluster managers, the Civil Engineer will perform the following functions in targeted locations:

- Undertake rapid needs assessments and identification of priority rehabilitation in selected peace health facilities.
- Provide technical support and oversight for the renovation works and ensure compliance with standards
- Supervise the renovation contract management, technical quality, policy and procedural compliance and work plan supervision of the activities;
- The supervisor regular visits to the site once the contractor commences work (average 3 visits a week unless more is deemed exceptionally necessary)
- Maintain, for the duration of contract period, signed copies of contract agreement, technical specifications, bill of quantities, drawings and other referenced standards
- Inspecting all works done and materials used to make sure that the contractor has complied with the contract specifications
- Review regularly the progress schedule and alerting the contractor of possible delays and consequences

- Considering an devaluating suggestions and recommendations which may be submitted by the contractor and reporting them with recommendations to the supervisor
- Maintain orderly files of correspondences, minutes of site meetings, change orders, measurement sheets, and copies of payment certificates.
- Facilitate & integrate to other staffs and government partners to have strong committees to sustain facilities

- Ability to report the Work progress in weekly base
Qualifications
Qualification & Competencies

- Qualifications in a discipline related to civil work engineering – Degree in civil engineering or related
- Experience of 2 to 3 years in related area
- Practical experience in the design, repair and Remodeling/rehabilitation of health facilities, wash fixtures, electrical points
- Strong experience in organizing tender processes: contractor appraisal/ assessment of technical designs/ BoQs etc; and development of contracts;
- Experience in monitoring and supervision of contractors on design, Remodeling/rehabilitation, and technical standards
- Sound IT skills, including Word, Excel and AutoCAD;
- Excellent command of oral and written English;
- Ability to prepare work progress & related reports/documents.
- Ability to live and work in a close team environment
