Organization Profile:

New Millennium Women Empowerment Organization (NMWEO) is an indigenous, non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization working on development, women empowerment, gender equality, humanitarian responses, sexual reproductive health education, economic empowerment, and environmental protection interventions over the past fifteen years. NMWEO is re-registered with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Authority for Civil Societies Organization (ACSO) in accordance with Organizations for Civil Societies Agency Proclamation No.113/2019, holding registration No. 0539.

Mission:

Our mission is to empower Ethiopian women, girls, and youth in economic, political, and social dimensions, helping them unlock their potential in decision-making through capacity building, advocacy, leadership development, and humanitarian intervention programs.

Purpose of Role:

In this exciting new role, you will develop and deliver strategic communications and fundraising activities targeted to our key audiences. The aim of this work is to:

  • Promote the positive impact of projects delivered/supported by NMWEO in the community, particularly targeting expected beneficiaries.
  • Support the delivery and promotion of all fundraising activities/events and recognize funders/fundraisers to generate new or additional projects that address our target needs.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Fundraising and Proposal Development:

  • Identify Funding Opportunities: Research and pursue new funding opportunities from various sources, including foundations, government agencies, and private donors.
  • Proposal Writing: Develop and write compelling expressions of interest, grant proposals, and funding applications.
  • Deadline Management: Maintain a calendar of funding deadlines and ensure the timely submission of all proposals and reports.

Partnership and Networking:

  • Strengthen Partnerships: Expand and fortify relationships with other NGOs, community organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Representation: Represent NMWEO at local, national, and international meetings, conferences, and events to build and maintain relationships with partners and donors.
  • Networking Strategies: Develop and implement strategies for effective networking to enhance the organization’s visibility and reach.

Communication and Representation:

  • Presentation Preparation: Prepare presentations, speeches, and other communication materials to effectively present NMWEO’s mission, programs, and achievements to diverse audiences.
  • Spokesperson Duties: Act as a spokesperson for NMWEO, articulating the organization’s goals and values in various forums and media outlets.
  • Donor and Partner Visits: Coordinate and oversee visits from donors and partners to project sites.

Resource Mobilization:

  • Strategy Development: Develop and manage a comprehensive resource mobilization strategy to support the organization’s programs and initiatives.
  • Trend Monitoring: Monitor and analyze trends in the funding environment to identify new opportunities and risks.
  • Documentation: Ensure proper documentation and reporting of all fundraising activities.

Program Support and Development:

  • Collaboration with Program Teams: Collaborate with program teams to ensure alignment of fundraising strategies with program goals and objectives.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to program staff in areas related to fundraising and partnership development.
  • Strategy Contribution: Contribute to the development and implementation of program strategies and work plans.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Tracking Systems: Establish and maintain systems for tracking and reporting on the progress and impact of fundraising activities.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports and updates for the management team and Board of Directors on fundraising performance.
  • Strategy Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and recommend improvements.

Administrative and Other Duties:

  • Budget Management: Manage budgets related to fundraising and partnership activities.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all donor requirements and organizational policies.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and operations of NMWEO.

About You

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent written skills with the ability to develop plans and project proposals.
  • A master’s degree in a subject related to project management, business management, development studies, or developmental economics.
  • At least four years of relevant professional experience in full acquisition from early positioning to consortium building and proposal development.
  • Demonstrable ability to plan and prioritize own workload.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills required to build relationships with existing and potential supporters/funders.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to understand and generate budgets.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for work.
  • Coordinating and initiating teamwork, particularly in developing project proposals.
