Job Description
CVDA has been re-registered and licensed by the Ethiopian Ministry of Justice, Charities and Societies Agency, on November 30, 2009 as an Ethiopian Residents charity in accordance with the Charities and Societies proclamation No. 621/2009 with registration No. 0588. As per 1113/2019 proclamation also re-registered on July 30, 2019.
CVDA has permission to work at the national level however so far operates marginal parts of Benshangule Gumuz Region, Sidama region, South Ethiopia Region, Central Ethiopia region, South west Ethiopia region, Oromiya region, Afar region and Addis Ababa City administration.
It is member of Consortium of Reproductive Health Association (CORHA), Union of Ethiopian Women Charitable Association (UEWCA), Ethiopian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative/EEITI/, Ethiopia Civil Society Coalition for Scaling up Nutrition/ECSC-SUN/ and Afar Region Health Partner Forum.

Main duty and Responsibility
Buisness Development Specialist will have the following duty and responsibility but not limted to listed below:
- Oversee all technical support for youth and woman-led business development initiatives of the Step Up to Dignified & Fulfilling work project, including market landscaping analysis, business partner assessment, GIS mapping and analysis, training programs, and sales data collection throughout the project.
- Identify and build business team capacity to introduce methods that have the potential to strengthen supply chain to low-income consumers, including guidance on distribution and sales.
- Create sustainable business models that lay out product promotion, distribution channels, pricing and sales models, profit and loss calculations.
- Lead assessments needs, opportunities, challenges and gaps in access to finance for youth and women-led enterprises/entrepreneurs and facilitate the development of appropriate financing products to ensure financial inclusion.
- Build relationship with public and private finance institutions including Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), to enablee youth and women to develop saving habits, access small loans, and build financial confidence.
- Support woreda level project team in identifying, vetting, and incubating private sector business partners (specially group-based enterprises) by co-developing toolkits and coaching guides for effective mentorship.
- Establish curricula and materials for life skills and financial literacy training tailored for low-literacy learners in collaboration with relevant public/ private training institutions.
- Contribute to the development of metrics and establishment of a monitoring and evaluation framework for tracking project progress, specifically around market linkages, income growth, and sustainability of women-led enterprises.
- Engage with relevant government and other actors to foster coordination and private sector partnerships with private sector for market system development.
- Contribute to the adaptation of market-based approach and tools into government programs and systems to promote sustainability and scale.
- Review and analyze data to improve management decision and optimize business models under implementation.
- Work closely with the Gender and Inclusion Advisor to ensure all business development approaches are inclusive and responsive to diverse participant needs.
- Oversee field team efforts related to private sector partnerships, market assessments, and governance of group enterprises for new product introduction.
- Provide regular reporting on business activities, including documentation and sharing of key learnings related to private sector engagement.
- Review, approve, and submit business development reports to the Program lead and program Director.
About You
Required qualification
- At least four (4) years with master’s degree or six (6) years of experience with first degree in Administration, Marketing, Economics or other relevant disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience in relevant areas such as general business management, private sector engagement, sales and marketing, supply chain strengthening, social entrepreneurship in pastorialist community setting.
- Experience in providing business development support to women-led business and/or design and implementation of sales and marketing programs.
- Experience providing technical coaching and mentorship to colleagues.
- Ability to write, compile and/or edit quality learning documents
- Proficient in English and Amharic languages, both written and verbal communication
- Willingness to travel frequently throughout project area
