Job Description

Background:

The Network of Ethiopian Women’s Associations (NEWA) is a non-partisan, non-governmental network organization established in 2003, and currently NEWA has 50 member local organizations and associations seeking to create a stronger advocacy voice for women’s advancement. NEWA has a twofold goal: synchronizing the individual activities of women’s associations into an integrated collective effort and synergy to realize their common aspirations for gender equality; and launching a vigorous public campaign of promotion, advocacy, and lobbying for empowering and redressing the needs, asks of the girls and young women (GYW), and the creation of space for this underprivileged section of society, and women’s rights, NEWA wants to achieve among others.

NEWA With the support from the Malala Fund, NEWA is implementing a project entitled “Education Champion Network’. One of the key activities of this project is the translation of the Ethiopian Girls Manifesto from English and Amharic versions into local languages Tigrigna and Afan Oromo. NEWA is planned to translate the Ethiopian girls manifesto document from English and Amharic versions into Tigrigna and Afan Oromo to ensure nationwide accessibility and impact. In this regard, NEWA aims to elevate the Manifesto as a public agenda item, encouraging decision makers and key stakeholders to use it as a guiding document for decision-making.

The project scope focuses on the Ethiopian Girls Manifesto document will be professionally translated from English and Amharic version into local languages (Tigrigna and Afan Oromo Therefore, NEWA expected the outcomes should translate into local languages. The Ethiopian Girls Manifesto document should carefully consider the girl’s asks identified by them across the country. Therefore, NEWA would like to hire a national consulting company or individual who translate the Girls Manifesto document.

About You

  • Bidders must have a renewed trade/business certificate for the year 2017 E.C (2024/25G.C), VAT, TIN, and the renewed professional license certificate.
  • University second degree in social sciences, education, Law, international/development studies, gender studies, political science, human rights, or other relevant areas.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in professional translation services, especially in advocacy, education, gender, or development-related content. Full understanding of girls’ education, manifesto, gender and social, economic and. General professional experience;
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in the field of education, manifesto, civil society, governance and related topics;
  • Qualified women or firms with qualified women are encouraged to apply.
  • Proven knowledge and analysis in relation to manifesto, rights-based approach especially on education, gender issues in social, political and economic context.
  • Proven experience in professional translation services, especially in advocacy, education, gender, or development-related content.
  • Fluency in English and the target language (Tigrigna and Afan Oromo).
  • Excellent report writing skills and a track record of producing analytical publications
  • It is advantageous to have similar educational background that can augment the topic/agenda

All applicants are required to submit their expression of interest (EOI), in hard copies or soft copies of both financial and technical proposals and relevant documents including renewed certificates and sample previous related work experiences within Five [5] days in person at the following address:

Duly completed bids must be in a sealed envelope addressed to NEWA marked by “Bidders Name, Address, Legal Stamps, and Signatures.” Bidders should submit their technical and financial documents in two different sealed envelopes to the address mentioned below.

Interested applicants are expected to submit both technical and financial proposals in separate sealed envelopes.
