Development for All (DFA) is an independent, non-governmental, and impartial local civil society organization established in 2016, registered under registration number 3610 and re-registered in 2019 under the Authority for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO). Purpose
We are seeking expressions of interest from qualified researchers to conduct an assessment of the conflict and human rights situation in the Metekel Zone of the Benishangul-Gumuz Region, Ethiopia. The selected researcher will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and reporting on key issues related to conflict dynamics and human rights challenges in the area.
Scope of Work
The selected researcher will:
- Conduct a desk review of relevant literature and secondary data to establish a baseline understanding of conflict dynamics and human rights situations in Metekel Zone.
- Undertake field research, including interviews and focus group discussions with affected communities and key stakeholders, to gather firsthand insights and perspectives.
- Analyze conflict dynamics and human rights situations in Metekel Zone, drawing on both desk and field findings to identify patterns, root causes, and impacts.
- Validate findings through triangulation of data sources and stakeholder consultations.
- Prepare a comprehensive report that synthesizes the analysis, highlights critical issues, and provides actionable recommendations for intervention and advocacy.
- Present findings and recommendations to DFA and relevant partners to inform programming and advocacy strategies.

About You
Required Expertise and Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in conducting research on conflict dynamics and human rights issues in Ethiopia or similar contexts.
- Strong understanding of the rights and challenges faced by minority and marginalized groups.
- Exceptional analytical, writing, and communication skills to produce high-quality reports and effectively convey complex findings.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in local languages relevant to the Benishangul-Gumuz Region is considered an asset.
