Mother and Child Development Organization is a non-governmental, non-political, non-religious and non-profit making indigenous organization established to improve the livelihood of impoverished women and children directly working at the grass root level with the local communities to address their needs and to enhance sustainable development in Somali region and Ethiopia since 1997.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Child Protection Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing child protection programs, identifying at-risk children, women and girls on FGM/ECM and ensuring their access to protection services. The role requires strong coordination skills and a commitment to safeguarding children’s rights.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor child protection activities
- Identify and refer vulnerable children to appropriate services
- Conduct awareness sessions on women & girls on FGM/ECM, child rights and protection
- Train community members and partners on child protection
- Create reporting mechanism and referral path ways.

Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in child protection
- Knowledge of child protection principles and case management
- Fluency in English and Somali
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Adaptability
- Dealing with work-related stress
- Effective communication and sociability
- Team work
