Work Location: Bishoftu Town, East Shewa Zone of Oromia Region, Ethiopia

Number of positions: Two (2) to be assigned one in Bishoftu town and one in Lume woreda/Mojo

Authorized to work in: Ethiopia (Eligible to work legally without work visa sponsorship)

Target Hiring Range: Local salary scale applies (Grade 1). Hiring range and benefits will be shared with applicants as part of the recruitment process. Please note that this is a national position, and salary will be paid in local currency.

Target Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract Duration: Full-time, one-year contract with possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funding

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Cleaner reports directly to the Logistics Assistant. The primary responsibility of the Cleaner is to ensure the office and compound spaces are clean and provide a presentable working environment for staff and visitors.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

1, Office Cleaning

  • Cleans the office building floors and windows by sweeping, mopping and scrubbing accord-ingly and washes the curtains as required.
  • Dusts and wipes office furniture and equipment.
  • Ensure the compound and garden are well maintained, where applicable.
  • Cleans office kitchen floors, equipment and utensils.
  • Cleans and tidies the office toilets.
  • Disposes garbage on daily basis and washes towels, where applicable.
  • Replenishes consumable items such as soap and paper towels.
  • Ensures that the water dispenser is clean and drinking water is available at all times.
  • Ensures the availability of fuel at the office for generator, where applicable.
  • Notifies the line manager on required cleaning materials and equipment.
  • Maintains and safely stores cleaning equipment.
  • Notifies the line manager concerning the need for major repairs of furniture and other equip-ment.
  • Ensures that offices are bug free; sprays office with insecticides as needed.

2. Administrative support

  • Greets visitors coming to the office at reception and escorts them to the appropriate RTP staff.
  • Serves refreshments to guests and RTP staff members as required.
  • Runs the office generator where applicable.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as photocopying.
  • Undertakes errands externally as requested.
  • Packs/ unpacks equipment as needed.

3. Perform other duties as assigned

About You

WHAT YOU’LL BRING (ESSENTIAL):

EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION:

Post-primary school certificate

EXPERIENCE:

2 years’ experience similar or directly related work in an office environment.

COMPETENCIES/PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Enthusiastic to perform all physical aspects of the cleaning job responsibilities
  • Strong sense of responsibility, initiative and self-motivation
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to understand and implement hygiene rules
  • Patient and polite
  • Time management and multitasking

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must have physical stability and skills to do the job such as ability to stoop and climb ladders
  • Understand proper hygiene and sanitation techniques
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions

LANGUAGES:

Excellent local language and basic knowledge of English also required

Additionally:

The incumbent is expected to follow a pre-set fixed timeline to complete the tasks but adjusts these when new priorities or requirements are raised by others. The incumbent could decide to work before the office starting time to avoid interruption to other employees.
