Location: Addis Ababa (with field travel), Ethiopia

Organization: Positive Action for Development (PAD)

Deadline: August 11, 2025

Job Description

Introduction:

Positive Action for Development (PAD) is one of the most vibrant, rapidly expanding, and results-driven civil society organizations in Ethiopia. PAD is currently scaling up its interventions across the humanitarian, NEXUS, and development spectrum—expanding operations throughout the country, including in Addis Ababa, Amhara, Oromia, Harari, Afar, Somali, Tigray, Benishangul-Gumuz, and Ethiopia’s southern regional states. As PAD broadens its reach, it remains firmly committed to inclusive, equitable, and conflict-sensitive programming—respecting the diverse realities of communities while fostering peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.

Vision: PAD strives to see a community of hope, humanity, and social justice.

Mission: PAD brings people together to work in partnerships; promotes hope, humanity, and social justice for every human life in all its fullness; and improves the livelihoods of disadvantaged groups for social and inclusive economic growth by actively engaging in positive actions, promoting responsive care and support, and addressing the root causes of poverty in Ethiopia.

Position Overview

The Communication, Partnership, and Marketing – Visibility, Strategies & Innovation Manager will lead the design and implementation of PAD’s communication, branding, and strategic visibility efforts while fostering strong partnerships, innovative outreach, and resource mobilization strategies.

This position plays a pivotal role in positioning PAD as a leading humanitarian and development actor, ensuring the organization’s mission, values, and impact are clearly communicated to donors, stakeholders, and the public. The role includes frequent field visits to document PAD’s work at the community level—especially during key events like distributions, service delivery, beneficiary support, and other milestone activities. Capturing human-centered stories, visual content, and outcome-focused narratives will be essential for visibility, learning, and donor reporting.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated communicator who combines creativity, technical skills, and field-level empathy to turn PAD’s grassroots work into compelling stories of change. While the position is supported by internal collaboration, it requires a self-driven approach with the capacity to produce quality content and manage multi-channel outreach independently.

Key Responsibilities

Communication & Visibility

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-platform communication and visibility strategy aligned with PAD’s mission and donor requirements.
  • Regularly travel to project sites to gather firsthand accounts, document field activities, capture testimonials, and collect human-interest success stories that demonstrate the organization’s real-world impact.
  • Produce powerful multimedia content—including articles, stories, videos, and social media posts—that amplify the voices of beneficiaries and bring attention to PAD’s community-level work.
  • Manage PAD’s digital presence, including the website and social media platforms, ensuring timely updates, consistent branding, and audience engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with donor visibility standards across all communication materials and field documentation.
  • Utilize tools such as Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, video editing platforms, and AI-powered design and content tools to develop high-quality promotional and educational content.
  • Coordinate the design and dissemination of banners, brochures, newsletters, reports, presentations, and branded items.

Partnership Development

  • Identify and map potential partners, including INGOs, CSOs, government agencies, and private sector actors aligned with PAD’s goals.
  • Support partnership engagement through communication materials, joint visibility opportunities, and external networking.
  • Facilitate the development of MoUs, collaborative frameworks, and joint communication initiatives.
  • Serve as a key liaison with strategic partners, contributing to visibility and outreach aligned with mutual interests.

Marketing & Resource Mobilization

  • Lead the promotion of PAD’s work, impact stories, and campaigns to attract donors, sponsors, and community supporters.
  • Design innovative outreach and fundraising strategies, including social campaigns, digital giving platforms, and CSR engagement tools.
  • Support proposal development and donor reporting by integrating strong visual and narrative communication elements.
  • Strengthen PAD’s public identity as an effective and trustworthy organization through consistent branding and storytelling.

Strategy & Innovation

  • Lead the integration of new tools, platforms, and technologies to increase outreach, engagement, and storytelling impact.
  • Conduct internal capacity-building and research on innovative communication approaches such as AI-generated storytelling, audience segmentation, and behavioral messaging.
  • Design and pilot storytelling formats (photo essays, video testimonials, infographics, interactive reports) to convey impact and support learning.
  • Organize campaigns, media briefings, community events, and documentation initiatives that elevate PAD’s public and donor-facing profile.
