Community facilitator / Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) Facilitator
Dan Church Aid (DCA) is a Denmark-based international NGO registered under certificate # 1083 by the Authority for Civil Society Organizations and working to improve the wellbeing of particularly the rural and pre-urban people in Ethiopia. DCA’s Programme mainly focus on save live, building resilience and fighting inequality targeting highly disaster-prone areas in Oromia, Amhara, Afar, and Gambella regions.

Duty Station: Adaar/Chifra district, afar regional state
Reporting to: Afar Programme Area Manager

Position Objective
The EORE Facilitator’s purpose is to facilitate the training and education and awareness of landmines, Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) resulting in reduced risk behaviour within affected communities
Purpose
Conduct EORE in targeted communities following the operational plan as prepared by the EORE technical lead
Engagement
- Train key people in the communities to become EORE trainers.
- Function as interviewer during assessments of targeted communities.
- Function as data collector in targeted communities.
- Function as community liaison between stakeholders/actors.
- Any other business as required by DCA.
- The EORE Facilitator shall participate in training before and during the operational phase: Basic EORE course. Course on specific Methodologies & tools and any other relevant training as planned by the DCA.
Delivery
- Maintain good communication with partner organizations.
- Maintain good relationships with other action interventions in the area including those involved in survey, marking and clearance to ensure good coordination and shared knowledge.
- Ensure community level issues and concerns are included in the planning.
- Ensure project implementation activities are in line with community norms, culture, and value system.
Job Requirements
- A university degree preferably in sociology/social sciences/teaching
- 3-4 years working Experience with teaching/education/social work and other related work in similar context
- Fluency in LOCAL LANGUAGE(Afari) and English
- Prior experience from working with an NGO is an asset.
