Introduction
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the United Nations in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with governments, businesses, and civil society, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious foods for all people, especially the most vulnerable.
Background
GAIN contributes to fighting malnutrition in Ethiopia through innovative and sustainable models that increase access to safe, affordable, and nutritious foods among communities vulnerable to malnutrition. In this regard, Gain is currently implementing a project called Economic Growth through Fruit Transformation, which is working on the agro processing in collaboration with various private and government sectors. Capacity building of TVETs and SMEs, which are involved in vocational education and agro processing, is the main intervention to build strong collaboration between the two sectors. The TVET and SME linkage was already created by GAIN, MOLS, and MOI for the TVETs and SMEs, including in Addis Ababa, Oromiya, Sidama and south Ethiopia regions to enhance the collaboration among the two sectors.
In line with that, GAIN and MOLS collaboratively delivered training of trainers (TOT) for the targeted TVET and SMEs staff after a gap assessment was completed and intervention areas were prioritized in collaboration with a consultant. Furthermore, GAIN will continue to deliver the capacity building activities in strengthening and maintaining the TVET and Industries linkage for productive collaboration. As the feedback collected from the TOT participants and the gap identified from the assessment, delivering soft skill training is essential to strengthen the technical capacity of the TVET and SMEs staff on agro processing. Therefore, GAIN has planned to recruit a consultant who has the potential qualification to develop and deliver soft skill training for TVET and SME staff in three different locations, namely Addis Ababa, Hawassa, and Arbaminch. The soft skill training mainly focuses on fundamental skills, facilitation skills, Entrepreneurial mindset, career development pathways, adaptability and networking, digital skill, etc
