Job Description
The purposes of this assignment are:
- To strengthen the business management capacity of agro-input dealers through training and targeted coaching.
The scope of the consultancy covers the following:
Training
- Adopt business training modules developed by SNV tailored to the needs of agro input dealers to address the specific knowledge and skills gaps and challenges of agro input dealers’ business management and planning.
- Provision of training for agro input dealers in four regions (four training events each for up to five days).
- Prepare pre-test and post-test checklist and capacity assessment tools based on business management skill concepts.
Coaching
- Conducting an initial assessment of current business practices for selected AGIDs.
- Developing coaching tools.
- Delivering hands-on coaching sessions, at least four per agro-input dealer, tailored to their capacity, focusing on the following areas:
- Developing basic financial record keeping tool (manual or digital)
- Inventory management (tracking, reordering….)
- Building and usage of a customer database and tracking systems
- Developing localized marketing strategies and customer retention
- Developing product catalogues (brochures/flyers) with input and service descriptions
- Demand creation strategies for dairy inputs and services
- Supporting AGIDs to create business plans using SNV-developed templates
- Advising on practical, low-cost business management tools
- Providing follow-up support to assess implementation and improvements.
About You
The lead consultants of the firm and the team it deploys for this assignment should possess the following competency and academic qualifications:
- The lead consultant as well as the consulting team member, should possess at least a master’s degree in agricultural marketing, Agricultural economics and business management.
- The lead consultant and the team members shall have at least 10 years of experience, in facilitating business management skill training and coaching micro and small-scale enterprises on agriculture and knowledge in dairy value chain and agro input dealers.
