Role Overview
The Credit Risk Analyst is responsible for supporting day-to-day risk analytics, model validation, and performance monitoring for digital lending products enabled by Kifiya. This role contributes to the execution of risk frameworks, portfolio tracking, and scoring performance validation for MSME and smallholder credit portfolios.
This position is ideal for a data-savvy analyst looking to build deep expertise in credit risk, policy execution, and financial data modelling within a fast-paced fintech environment. The analyst will work under close guidance to manage portfolio data, monitor risk trends, and support the development of scoring logic and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Portfolio Risk Monitoring & Analysis
- Track portfolio performance indicators including PAR, NPL, write-offs, and vintage performance across all products and partners.
- Conduct portfolio segmentation by customer, sector, location, and partner bank to identify concentrations and vulnerabilities.
- Perform cohort analysis and delinquency trend mapping to support optimization strategies.
2. Credit Scoring & Model Support
- Monitor the effectiveness of credit scoring models, flag drifts, and score misclassifications.
- Provide analysis to support model recalibration, validation, and reporting.
- Maintain records of model changes, assumptions, and performance benchmarks.
3. Reporting & Dashboarding
- Develop and update credit risk dashboards using a reporting tool (Power BI, Tableau or Metabase).
- Generate weekly and monthly reports for use in internal reviews and partner discussions.
- Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of risk reporting across products and institutions.
4. Early Warning Monitoring & Escalation
- Prepare and update monthly risk dashboards and input into quarterly review reports.
- Document model assumptions, thresholds, and reporting definitions.
- Maintain internal SOPs and control trackers for risk procedures.
5. Policy & Framework Support
- Support implementation of credit policies, underwriting standards, and risk frameworks.
- Participate in credit risk audits and ensure compliance with internal governance.
- Collaborate with teams in drafting SOPs and documentation of credit scoring systems.
About You
Educational Background
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Additional certifications in credit analysis, risk modelling, or data analytics are a plus.
Professional Experience
• 2–4 years of experience in credit risk analysis, portfolio monitoring, or financial analytics.
• Experience in a financial institution, fintech, credit bureau, or digital lending company preferred.
• Exposure to MSME or agricultural lending portfolios is an advantage.
Technical Skills.
• Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data visualization).
• Working knowledge of SQL and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Python/R) is a plus.
• Familiarity with scoring models, delinquency tracking, and early warning systems.
