Job Summary:

The Data Centre Facility Team Lead oversees the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and reliability of the data centre’s physical infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, uptime, and compliance with industry standards. This role leads a team of facility technicians, engineers, and contractors to maintain power, cooling, security, and safety systems in a mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

1. Facility Operations & Maintenance

  • Supervise the 24/7 operation of data centre facilities, including power distribution (UPS, generators, PDUs), cooling (CRAC/CRAH, chillers), fire suppression, and physical security systems.
  • Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance is performed on critical infrastructure (HVAC, electrical, mechanical).
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS), Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM), and SCADA systems for anomalies.

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead, mentor, and schedule a team of facility technicians and engineers.
  • Coordinate with IT, network operations, and third-party vendors for seamless facility support.
  • Conduct training on safety protocols, emergency response, and equipment handling.

3. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with TIA-942, Uptime Institute Tier Standards, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and local regulations.
  • Enforce OSHA, NFPA, and EPA guidelines for workplace safety.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and disaster recovery drills.

4. Capacity Planning & Efficiency

  • Track power usage effectiveness (PUE), water usage effectiveness (WUE), and capacity utilization.
  • Recommend infrastructure upgrades to support scalability and energy efficiency.
  • Assist in new data centre buildouts, retrofits, and expansions.

About You

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Certifications such as Cisco’s CCNA or Huawei’s HCIP, AutoCAD and related certifications
  • Master’s degree is advantageous
  • 4+ years in data centre operations, critical facilities, or related field
  • Leadership: Exceptional people management, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Data-driven decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a 24/7 mission-critical environment
