Digital Health Consultant for DigiTriage Project

KNCV Ethiopia is dedicated to fight and end human suffering from TB and other related diseases in Ethiopia and support the country toward achieving the global END TB strategy. KNCV Ethiopia works toward contributing to the reduction of TB and related diseases in the country through implementation projects, research, and evidence generation.
Background
KNCV Ethiopia in Collaboration with KNCV TB Plus Global office is in the process of conducting a study entitled “ evaluation of a Digital Solution for Interpreting and Reporting VISITECT Advanced CD4 Assay Results (DigiTriage Project)” with a main objective to evaluate the diagnostic performance and feasibility of the AI-powered DigiTriage tool in interpreting VISITECT-CD4-AD assay results under routine care conditions in Ethiopia, as compared to human readers and laboratory-based CD4 reference methods.
Purpose of the position
KNCV Ethiopia is looking for IT consultant who will support the DigiTriage Project by providing technical expertise in the implementation and optimization of the DigiTriage tool, a Telegram-based intervention to support accurate interpretation of HIV point-of-care tests. This pilot implementation aims to assess whether the specialized AI-powered engine utilized in the back end of the tool can accurately interpret image-based results from CD4-count tests conducted in clinic settings. The main role of the locally-based IT consultant is to support end users on proper utilization of the Telegram-based tool, to coordinate with the central project team on tool improvements and troubleshooting, and to conduct relevant monitoring and technical evaluation at study settings.
Reporting and Management
The consultant will report directly to the Executive Director and he/she will work in close coordination with the project central office team. The project Global team will be responsible for building and initial testing of the Telegram-based tool, as well as refinement of the AI engine. The locally-based IT consultant will be responsible for facilitating the in-country use and technical support during the project period. Regular progress updates and planning meetings will be held to ensure alignment with project timelines.
Duties and responsibilities
The IT consultant will:
- Conduct periodic user acceptance testing (UAT) of the tool in coordination with the central project team
- Support training of the clinic-based users of the tool, including facilitation of training activities
- Conduct site visits to monitor the use of the tool and provide supportive supervision to users
- Ensure users are appropriately capturing and uploading photos of the HIV tests into the tool interface
- Respond to technical support questions from users on the functionalities of the tool
- Support relevant tasks in the study activities being conducted (e.g. ensuring users’ adherence to the predefined study procedures digital workflow)
- Support collection of data in coordination with local project staff
Duration and time frame
The consultancy will be conducted over a period of 4 months, commencing from September 08,2025 to December 31, 2025 on part time base . Specific timelines for deliverables will be agreed upon contract signature.

About You
Who are we looking for?
- Advanced degree in Public Health, Health Informatics, ICT for Development, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in digital health implementation.
- Demonstrable experience working with non-expert end-users of digital applications and/or software, preferably in a health system setting
- Experience conducting trainings and supportive supervision related to digital tool implementation
- Strong understanding of data governance, cybersecurity, and digital privacy principles.
- Understanding of the iterative process of digital tool development (prototyping, testing, iteration, testing, refinement)
- Experience working with NGOs, health ministries, or development partners.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- (Preferably) Experience working with app-based solutions such as chatbots, Telegram channels
- (Preferably) Experience working on HIV, TB, health-related projects Affinity with digital technologies
