Job Description
The Federation of Ethiopian Associations of Persons with Disabilities (FEAPD) is a prominent cross-disability umbrella organization. Its primary objective is to serve as a unified voice and public representative for persons with disabilities throughout the country. FEAPD is dedicated to advancing the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities, advocating for inclusivity and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in both development and humanitarian endeavors.
FEAPD collaborates closely with like-minded civil society organizations (CSOs) and member organizations in facilitating projects, programs, and policies that ensure equal participation and benefits for persons with disabilities across various domains, including economic, social, political, cultural and environmental aspects. Its aim is to eliminate barriers hindering the involvement of persons with disabilities in both development and humanitarian initiatives. With a proven track record and a strong commitment to making a positive impact, FEAPD possesses the necessary experience and ambition to effectively address different interventions.
Since April 2024 HI and FEAPD has signed a new project agreement entitled “Protection-Integrated Multi-sectoral Lifesaving Services for the Most Vulnerable IDPs and Host Communities in Northern Ethiopia”.
Hence, FEAPD is looking for a competent IHA project coordinator and Disability Inclusion Coordinator for said project who fulfils the below requirements.
Key roles and Responsibilities:
Coordination
- Implement, coordinate, monitor and report the activities of FEAPD in the respective area.
Networking:
- Work with consortium partners to ensure that disability and older people priorities are identified and integrated into work plans.
- Create and steward relationships with regional and zonal organizations of persons with disabilities and connect them with our service delivery partners.
- Represent the FEAPD ECHO 2.2 team in networks of NGOs such as DITWG, protection cluster and/ or government bodies, as needed.
- Initiate and build relationships with both mainstream and disability organizations, in order to promote disability and older people inclusion and to initiate partnerships with organizations interested in disability mainstreaming.
Advising and training:
- Coordinate learning sessions and working groups; to bring organizations together in learning platforms.
- Develop and deliver training and workshops on the inclusion of persons with disabilities and older people in development and humanitarian programming, workplaces, and policies, provide coaching and advice on the same.
Knowledge and information management:
- Gather and disseminate relevant information regarding disability and older people mainstreaming; to document lessons learned, case studies and stories of change.
- Stay apprised of the latest global evidence and best practice. Contribute to position papers and other materials generated as part of the thematic areas.
- Support the generation of evidence of the programs impact on ECHO 2.2 and disability and older people inclusion.
- Monitor the implementation of consortium partner’s work plans in relation to age and disability focused activities.

About You
Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- BA/MA/MSC degree in fields relating to development work, law, human rights, Sociology, Inclusive/Special needs education disability rights, or program management.
- At least 6/4 years of experience respectively for BA degree and master’s degree working in Non-Governmental Organizations, or Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) with related position.
- High level of exposure to barriers that persons with disabilities face and practical solutions to overcome those barriers, either through life experience or through previous work experience
- Excellent people skills with the ability to develop others and to impart knowledge and experience in an accessible and clear manner.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Commitment to local ability building and experience of engaging and working with local stakeholders in project design and implementation.
- Demonstrated expertise in implementation of age and Disability inclusion advisory is desired.
- Show great initiative and be able to work well in a team and independently.
- Ability to produce prompt and deliver high-quality results.
- Reflects FEAPD values in daily work.
