With this note, TRI invites dynamic, purpose-driven individuals to apply for the position of Driver and logistics Assistant, and detail-oriented professionals to support its project implementation in Bishoftu, Oromia.

The Driver/Logistics Assistant will be responsible for ensuring proper handling and management of vehicle/s assigned to him/her; He/she will be responsible to provide driving services to staff, partners and collaborators of TRI for authorized business trips; He/she will be responsible to keep proper track record of the vehicle/s assigned to him including insurance, annual inspection, regular repair and maintenance, cleanliness, etc.; He/she will provide liaising and logistics services including settlement of tax liabilities with relevant government offices, collection of quotations from suppliers and service providers, settlement of utility bills, transportation of goods, etc.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities

  • Drive project, and project affiliated personnel to project sites within the base location, and throughout the project implementation area for project activities, including official site visits;
  • Maintain up-to-date record keeping systems for vehicle issues, including fuel, mileage, and trip logs.
  • Observe all company vehicle utilization policies, in country traffic laws.
  • Responsible for maintenance of project vehicles, keeping accurate records, and following a schedule of routine maintenance, annual inspection, insurance, cleaning, etc.
  • Ensure the readiness of the vehicle for transport service by checking oil, water, fuel and other parts of the vehicle prior to driving.
  • Update monthly mileage records.
  • Perform project routine business around the country, such as receiving and delivering official project documentation to and from main office, project office purchasing.
  • Perform relevant general service activities such as collection of proforma, processing customs duty clearances and tax exemptions.
  • Make arrangements for repairs, maintenance, and improvements to the office, as requested by the project management.
  • Settles monthly office utility bills such as electricity, water, internet, etc.
  • Regularly check post office boxes, collect and dispatch letters, parcels and other correspondence, and perform other local errands.
  • Transport clients from airports to hotels and vice versa.
  • Picking up office purchases or other administrative needs.
  • Utilizing navigation apps to find the most optimal route.
  • Perform other duties as required.

About You

Position Requirements

The position holder should:

  • Have valid driver’s license preferably 3rd grade or equivalent. Training in Auto mechanics is an advantage.
  • High school graduate with commendable writing, speaking and listening skills in Amharic and English.
  • At least 5-year driving experience preferably in development organizations.
  • Extensive knowledge of the project implementation area.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Proficiency using GPS devices.
  • Proficiency in English and Amharic languages, Afaan Oromo is desirable; Ability to communicate in other local languages is desired
