MSD is a non-profit, civic society organization founded in 1999 to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Since then, MSD works to strengthen the socio-economic development of the wider community, and the nation at large. Working with partners and stakeholders, MSD advance the voice of citizens and community structures in service delivery, identifying priority needs, provide support and services to target groups with education, skills and promote opportunity to get along with assets. Aligned to its vision, mission and strategic objectives, MSD has been working in different development, emergency and humanitarian endeavors including HIV Prevention, care and support, Orphan and vulnerable children (OCV) care and support, Sexual and Reproductive health (SRH),Family Planning (FP), Gender Based Violence (GBV), migration, child protection and environmental protection. Through these technical area and services, it reached different hard to reach target groups including early married girls, GBV survivor, OVCs, refugees, PLHA, commercial sex workers and their clients, waitresses, long truck drivers, CSOs, CBOs and the community. At community level, the organization works with community members and community based social service providing institutions, schools, health facilities, government line offices, marginalized groups and professional associations.

I. Job Summary:
The Education officer is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the implementation of the CP project in which she/he is assigned. In consultation with the PC and with other project staff, she/he develops a periodic implementation plan, and regularly monitor implementation per the plan. Besides, she/he play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children, PSEA, and Safeguarding in the IDP sites.
II. Major Responsibilities and Tasks:
Job Responsibility #1: Program Planning and Implementation
- Plan, lead, organize, direct, coordinate and monitor the overall planning and execution of the child protection education activities at IDP sites and ensure alignment with strategic goals;
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the child protection project education activity , ensuring adherence to objectives and timelines;
- Implement and monitor education activities in line with established child protection standards and policies in the project sites;
- Follow, assist and support social services workers to have updated monthly and quarterly implementation plans;
- Builds the capacity of SSWs and other volunteers, stakeholders and partners by providing training on child protection-education and all other related issues;
- Ensure PSEA, safeguarding is implemented and children and their families in the IDP are protected from any harm.
Responsibility #2: Program Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
- Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks/plans to assess and track project progress, outcomes and effectiveness against the intended goal and objectives ;
- Periodically conduct monitoring, JISS, review meeting with donor, staff, regional, and sub-regional stakeholders.
- Undertake continuous data management and quality assurance per donor requirements and organization standard and guideline;
- Prepares periodic performance reports and submits to CP coordinator in time.
- Maintain project documents, lessons and innovations as part of knowledge management.
Responsibility #3: Coordination with Staff
- Coach and mentor social workers/ community workers and provide technical support to deliver quality services to target beneficiaries.
- Establish teamwork, effective communication, and cross-fertilize experiences between project staff
- Provides continued regular support to community workers/social service providers/ workers (SSWs)
About You
III. Educational Qualifications:
Education and training
- Bachelor’s degree ( BA/BSC) OR Master’s degree (MA or MSc) in Pedagogy, Psychology, Social Work, Project Management field of studies;
- Relevant certifications in project management and/or child protection (e.g., CP training) are preferred;
- Training in project monitoring and evaluation methodologies, as well as child safeguarding practices;
Work experiences:
- A minimum of 2/4 years and above of relevant work experience;
- Direct and proven work experiences in implementing CP in emergency and IDP settings are advantageous.
- NGO setting work experiences are highly desirable/mandatory;
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly children, in community settings;
- Familiarity with PSEA, Safeguarding, local child protection laws, policies, and practices;
