Job Description
The Comitato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli (CISP) (International Committee for the Development of People) is a NGO established in 1983 in Rome, Italy and currently operating in 30 countries in various parts of the world. CISP has been operating in Ethiopia since 1986 through relief, rehabilitation and development projects. In collaboration with various local partners CISP is actively implementing projects in Ethiopia in the area of humanitarian assistance, agriculture, food security, livelihood, DRR, WASH, education, Youth and Women Development and other social development projects.
Position: FOOD SECURITY AND LIVELIHOOD OFFICER
- will also ensure that the material and financial resources of the project are well managed in line with the original plan, grant management and other approved guidelines in close collaboration with the Area Coordinator and other team members.
Key Areas of Accountability:
- Develop plans to incorporate the livelihoods related activities during development and implementation of the project implementation plans.
- Carry out baseline need assessment with other project team and local partners to identify needs, prioritization and planning.
- Work with the local authorities and target community in setting participatory beneficiary selection criteria and selections of direct beneficiaries for each type of related activities.
- Plan, implement, monitor and review the implementation of the livelihood component of the project according to the approved donor and local government agreements.
- Provide technical support to local authorities and target communities aiming at building their planning and implementation capacity
- Conduct regular planning and review meetings with the project frontline staff and local partners and record lessons learnt and provide feedbacks to the Area Coordinator.
- Together with the project staffs and partners sets project quality standards and action steps and monitor the performance accordingly;
- Conducts regular supervision and closely work with the government and community level partners
- Makes sure the project supports of the organization goes to the appropriate and needy community members with all the required quantity and quality;
- Prepare and maintain records, documents and control plans for the monitoring of projects/ program implementation.
- Prepare weekly and monthly implementation works plans.
- Supervise the implementation of the project following the established procedures and mechanisms to enhance quality of the project outputs.
- Provide technical advice, training and support to government partners and community to ensure that activities are carried out on timely manner.
- Establishes firm and institutionalized working relationship with local officials, community institutions and other stake holders;
- Prepares and report regular project progress to the area coordinator
- Represents CISP at zonal and woreda level coordination meetings and on the related livelihood and food security clusters and others as required.
- Prepare and present progress reports on the zonal, woreda coordination and cluster meetings
- Ensure work plan relates closely to the regular updated project work plan guiding the project implementation and progress towards completion.
- Prepare action plans jointly with project staffs and local government and other stakeholder for monitoring, review and periodic project reporting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, intermediate and final reports and submit to the area coordinator
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Carry out tasks defined by the Project Coordinator and Program team in head office as needed.

About You
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree, or above in Agriculture sector, livelihoods, food security and at least 10 years of relevant experience
EXPERIENCE
- Experience in implementation of similar project/programs in livelihood-based activities in agriculture sector and income generation activities
- Understanding of and experience in the project implementation techniques, participatory planning, implementation and monitoring basic practices;
- Prior experience in livelihood and food security interventions within various NGOs is highly preferred
- Motivated self-starter, able to carry out work independently but also coordinate effectively as part of a team;
- Proven skills on managing changes, achieving results, ensuring quality, team building and capacity building.
- Ability and willingness to work under pressure as part of a professional team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including assertiveness and negotiating skills.
- Demonstrated planning and organizational skills;
- Spoken and written fluency in English and computer literacy (MS Office and email/internet);
- Fluent in Afan Oromo
- Excellent in writing periodic reports
- Willingness to travel to operational Woredas/kebeles within the target communities
