SOS Sahel Ethiopia jointly with Women Empowerment – Action (WE-Action) obtained financial support from UN OCHA to implement: “Gender-Based Violence – Responding to Critical Gaps for Conflict-Affected Populations
Project”. The project objective is to reduce the incidence and impact of gender-based violence among conflict-affected women, girls, and other vulnerable groups in East and Horo Guduru Wollega zones through integrated, survivor-centered prevention and response interventions, The project intervention takes the period from 01, June 2025 to 30, November 2025.”
SOS Sahel Ethiopia, as part of its program implementation is seeking to employ interested, qualified, & experienced individual for the job position mentioned hereabove:
Job Position: Gender and Protection Officer
Job Purpose / Summary:
The Gender and Protection Office will support the program to provide technical support to mainstream gender, protection and disability as cross-cutting themes for all the programmatic activities in the humanitarian Program.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Capacity building of staff and any other co implementing partners that the project will work with in the program and response to promote the local capacity.
- Capacity building of programme staff, community structures and co-partner that the program will work with due to the key stakeholders on protection, and Gender, Adult and child safe guarding,
- Responsible for delivery of gender equality and social inclusion training to project staff;
- Provide technical support and mentorship to the Protection and Gender Assistant and the Co-Partner staff to enhance their knowledge on implementation of all gender, protection and disability inclusion activities within the program.
- Develop and facilitate gender, protection and disability inclusion components in training materials, distribution messages, dissemination meetings and other project tools and resources;
- Ensure accessibility of gender, protection and disability inclusion materials developed for the IDP program and other programs within the response;
- Mainstreaming gender, protection and disability inclusion activities in field implementation;
- Conduct regularly gender, protection and disability analysis, community mapping and safety audits to identify and address access and financial barriers to children’s’ and community’s protection need in the program and other projects within the response.

Salary: As per SOS Sahel Ethiopia salary scale.

About You
Qualifications:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. Degree in Health Officer, Social Psychology, SOSA, or related field with 3 to 5 years relevant practical experience (preferably in the NGO). Good communication skills, interpersonal skills and excellent report writing skill in English.
NB*: Knowledge of local languages – Afaan Oromo is required.
