About Deborah Foundation
Established in 2019, Deborah Foundation is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with Down Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities. Our work focuses on three core areas: Health, Education, and Policy Advocacy, with the goal of creating a more inclusive and supportive society for all.
Through our flagship initiative, Deborah Academy, we operate one of the few inclusive schools in Ethiopia. The academy provides a safe and nurturing learning environment that values diversity, tolerance, and individual growth. We are committed to helping children reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally while fostering a culture of acceptance and empowerment for students, families, and educators alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement functional skills programs (e.g., daily living, communication).
- Oversee IEPs and support strategies tailored to individual learners.
- Work with therapists, families, and staff to ensure student development.
- Provide training in adaptive instruction techniques
About You
Qualifications
- BA/MA in Special Needs Education, Developmental Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with children with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities.
- Deep knowledge of functional curriculum design and delivery.
- Previous experience working with students with special needs.
