Job summary:
The Health and Nutrition coordinator will provide strategic leadership and oversight to the healthcare operations within Refugee Camps. This role encompasses both clinical and administrative responsibilities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to refugees and nearby host community.
The Health and Nutrition coordinator will also supervise and support the Human Resources Assistant, Warehouse Assistant, and Logistics & Admin Assistant in coordination with the Health and Nutrition Manager at the head office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership:
- Provide clinical leadership and guidance to medical staff across all health facilities within the refugee camps.
- Ensure the implementation of evidence-based medical practices and protocols to optimize patient care.
- Provide direct patient consultation and oversee the diagnosis, treatment, higher-level referral service and management of medical conditions prevalent among refugees and host community, ensuring adherence to established standards of care.
- Conduct regular medical rounds and clinical audits to monitor the quality of healthcare services provided.
- Draft and Implement policies, procedures, and protocols to streamline healthcare operations and enhance efficiency.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to procure essential medical equipment, supplies, and pharmaceuticals for the health facilities.
- Monitor and manage the budget allocated for medical services, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records, including patient data and treatment outcomes.
- Collaborate with other departments, including warehouse, logistics and human resources, to ensure smooth functioning of healthcare operations.
- Provide regular reports and updates to the Health and Nutrition Manager and other relevant stakeholders on the status of healthcare services within the refugee camps.
- Supervise and support medical staff, including physicians, health officers, nurses, midwives, and other healthcare professionals, across all health facilities.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to enhance staff performance and development.
- Facilitate training and capacity-building initiatives for medical and support staff to ensure continuous professional development.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect among staff members.
- Liaise with external partners, including UN agencies, NGOs, and local health authorities, to strengthen collaborative efforts and leverage resources for healthcare delivery.
- Participate in coordination meetings and working groups related to health and humanitarian assistance, representing the organization’s interests and priorities.
- Engage with refugee community leaders and representatives to understand their healthcare needs and preferences, ensuring that services are culturally sensitive and responsive.
About You
Qualifications:
Education:
- Medical degree /Master in Nutrition, Public health, Hospital Administration and valid medical license to practice medicine in the relevant jurisdiction.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years for Degree or 2 years for Masters
