ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Information Security Analyst is responsible for safeguarding the organization’s digital assets by implementing and maintaining security measures to protect systems, networks, and data. This role requires an experienced professional with a strong understanding of security protocols, risk management, and the ability to handle sophisticated cyber threats.

The Analyst will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing the organization’s information security program while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The position holder can be based in any of our offices: Addis, Kigali, Nairobi, Juba or N’Djamena.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Risk Management and Incident Response

  • Proactively monitor systems for security breaches and respond promptly to incidents.
  • Investigate and mitigate cyber threats, malware, and unauthorized access attempts.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate security gaps.
  • Undertake incident response activities, including post-incident reviews and reporting.

Security Operations and Implementation

  • Manage and maintain security tools and technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), endpoint protection, and SIEM platforms.
  • Enforce security policies, procedures, and guidelines to protect organizational assets.
  • Implement access controls, encryption, and other measures to safeguard sensitive data.
  • Oversee the deployment of patches and updates to address vulnerabilities.

Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations such as ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, or others relevant to the organization.
  • Assist in internal audits and support external audits related to information security.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for security policies, procedures, and risk management activities.

Training and Awareness

  • Provide guidance and training to employees on cybersecurity best practices.
  • Develop and deliver security awareness programs to reduce the risk of human error.

Collaboration and Strategy

  • Work closely with IT teams to integrate security into infrastructure and application development.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and service providers to assess security risks.
  • Stay updated on emerging security threats and trends to inform security strategy and recommend improvements.

Requirements

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) is a mandatory requirement. Advanced certifications(e.g., CISSP, CISM, or GIAC) are highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years in a cybersecurity or information security role, with hands-on experience in security monitoring, risk assessment, and incident response.
  • Expertise in SIEM tools, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and security architecture.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and standards like GDPR, ISO 27001, and NIST.
  • Familiarity with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to improving security measures.
