Enhancing Child Focused Activities (ECFA) is a legally registered Ethiopian civil society organization, established in 2006 and based in Adama city. ECFA is a dedicated member of NEWA (Network of Ethiopian Women Associations) and Child Helpline International (CHI), committed to the realization of the rights of children, girls, and young women in Ethiopia. ECFA’s goal is to advocate for and ensure the respect of the rights of children, girls, and young women through specialized, innovative, and integrated interventions (helpline) and services implemented in collaboration with like-minded partners.

01. GBV Helpline Counselor

  • Location: Shashemene town
  • Deadline:  August 6, 2025

Job Description

(ECFA) is seeking a qualified and passionate candidate to join our team as a GBV Helpline Counselor at the 919 SGBV Helpline Center in Shashemene town.

This position requires an individual who thrives in both collaborative and independent settings. The successful candidate will be a strong advocate for girls’ rights and demonstrate a commitment to upholding and promoting their well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive & register calls coming from the three digit toll free SGBV helpline number
  • Provide online & in person counseling services for those calling via the 919 helpline number
  • Offer information on protecting children ,girls’ & youth from GBV
  • Refer victims & survivors of SGBV to appropriate institution for protection services
  • Conduct analysis of registered data & send the report to ECFA program head before endorsing the data.
  • Work closely under the immediate supervision of the program officer
  • Fulfill any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by ECFA program head.
  • Promote the SGBV helpline number among the community.

About You

Qualifications/requirements:

  • Proven experience working in a helpline or similar environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A passion for advocating for children & girls’ rights and well-being.
  • Demonstrated high level of commitment to the principles of client centered practice, empowerment and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work across technology and systems
  • Degree in Counseling/Psychology with experience in counseling and client management
  • Fluency in speaking, writing & reading Ormifa is a must. & fluency in English language is a +
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel programs preferred.

02. Regional Helpline Coordinator

Job Description

(ECFA) is seeking a qualified and passionate candidate to join our team as a GBV Helpline Regional Coordinator in Addis Ababa.

Job Summary:

The Regional Helpline Coordinator will oversee the operation of the ECFA Helpline Center, ensuring efficient service delivery for abused children, girls, and young women. With a strong ICT background, the coordinator will manage call systems, data security, and digital counseling platforms while supervising helpline staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Helpline Management:

  • Oversee daily operations of GBV helpline, ensuring prompt response to abuse reports.
  • Monitor call quality, data confidentiality, and adherence to safeguarding policies.
  • Coordinate online counseling and referrals to legal, medical, and psychosocial services.

ICT & System Maintenance:

  • Manage helpline software, databases, and cyber security measures to protect survivor data.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and liaise with IT support for system upgrades.
  • Ensure secure data storage and compliance with privacy laws and ethical guidelines.

Team Leadership & Training:

  • Supervise helpline counselors and volunteers.
  • Conduct capacity-building sessions on trauma-informed care and digital security.

Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Collaborate with police, social services, and NGOs for case referrals.
  • Facilitate coordination and collaboration with the respective regional government’s bureaus.

Community Awareness:

  • Lead outreach campaigns to promote the helpline in schools and communities.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Develop and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation system to track the progress of GBV prevention activities.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess the impact of interventions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports on program activities, achievements, and challenges.
  • Prepare reports on helpline trends for head office, donors and government agencies.

About You

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Advanced degree in social work, psychology, public health, international development, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in GBV prevention and response programming.
  • Strong understanding of gender-based violence and its root causes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, data analysis software).
  • Fluency in speaking, writing & reading Oromifa is a must. & fluency in English language is a +
