Position:  Junior, Legal Service and Enforcement

Job Grade:       5

 Duty Station:    Addis Ababa/Head Office

Availability:     As Soon As Possible

Job Purpose:

This role assists in investigating compliance breaches, contributes to drafting operational and administrative policies, procedures, rules, and regulations from a legal perspective, and provides day-to-day legal advice to the Exchange’s departments and divisions. Additionally, the role involves producing periodic reports on relevant activities and compliance matters.

SUMMARY OF MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the development of strategy, arguments, and testimonies in preparation for the presentation of cases before courts of law or other judicial or quasi-judicial institutions;
  • Participates in the development and revision of policies, procedures, and manuals of the Division;
  • Ensures the organization and safekeeping of files and records of court cases, investigation reports, and other related documents
  • Participate in Gathering all necessary evidence to formulate a defense or to initiate legal action to defend the interests of the Exchange;
  • Participate in providing legal consultations, comments, advice, and interpretation on issues related to the Rules of the Exchange, Labor Law, and other pertinent laws applicable to the Exchange operation to different Departments/Divisions of the Exchange.;
  • Assist in the preparation of investigation reports regarding rule violations and prepare responses to appeals made by members, clients of intermediary members, or floor representatives.
  • Assists the awareness creation programs to members, employees of the Exchange, and  other stakeholders concerning the Rules of the Exchange, Labour Law, and other pertinent laws applicable to the Exchange;
  • Assists in the preparation of responses to requests made by government institutions, business sectors, and other stakeholders as necessary;
  • Represents ECX before a court of law, quasi-judicial or administrative organ as necessary;
  • Prepares periodic reports concerning the activities of the Division; and
  • Performs other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor
