Position Summary
The Kindergarten Assistant Teacher will support the Main Teacher in delivering high-quality early years education to children aged 4–6 years. This role involves assisting with lesson delivery, classroom management, child supervision, and preparation of learning materials. The Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Main Teacher to ensure a safe, caring, and stimulating environment that fosters children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Classroom Support
- Assist the Main Teacher in delivering daily lessons and activities based on the Kindergarten curriculum.
- Help prepare teaching materials, resources, and classroom displays.
- Support the implementation of play-based and interactive learning experiences.
- Provide additional support to students who require extra help in understanding activities.
2. Child Supervision & Care
- Supervise children during class, break times, meals, and outdoor activities to ensure safety.
- Assist with toileting, hygiene routines, and promoting healthy habits among children.
- Observe and report children’s behaviour, progress, and well-being to the Main Teacher.
3. Classroom Management
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Reinforce positive behaviour and assist in implementing class rules.
- Encourage respect, cooperation, and inclusion among students.
4. Collaboration & Communication
- Work as part of the KG team, supporting colleagues in day-to-day activities.
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with parents, colleagues, and school staff.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events when required.
5. Administrative & Support Tasks
- Assist in record-keeping, including attendance and student portfolios.
- Prepare and organize resources for upcoming lessons and activities.
- Help in setting up and cleaning up after activities.
About You
- Minimum Diploma or Certificate in Early Childhood Education, Teaching, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with young children in a school or childcare setting (preferred).
- Basic understanding of early childhood development and classroom practices.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English; knowledge of other local languages is an advantage.
