Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE:

The Layout Editor brings creative concepts to life by producing visually compelling, on-brand designs that support World Vision’s communications and engagement efforts. This role ensures excellence in visual storytelling through precise layout, typography, and design alignment across print and digital formats. Working closely with writers, designers, and brand leads, the Layout Editor upholds design consistency and quality control, enabling content to inspire staff, supporters and partners alike.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

Layout & Design Production

  • Create layouts for reports, brochures, digital publications, presentations and other communications collateral, adhering to brand guidelines and design systems.

Collaboration & Consultation

  • Partner with content creators, creative leads and brand teams to interpret design briefs and translate them into impactful layouts.

Quality Control & Consistency

  • Review final outputs for formatting, alignment, accessibility, and adherence to branding standards across platforms.

Template Development & Overall Project Management

  • Create and maintain design templates for recurring publications and internal and external campaigns. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and priorities are balanced. Maintain organised files and documentation for all projects.

 

Innovation & Learning

  • Stay informed of current layout trends, tools, and best practices in both digital and print.

Contribute to Global Marketing and Communications engagement efforts that build team unity, collaboration and trust.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, LICENSE, REGISTRATION, AND CERTIFICATION

  • Post-secondary, non-tertiary qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field (e.g., diploma or professional certificate).

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in layout design or graphic production, ideally within a creative, marketing, or communications team.
  • Experience working within brand guidelines and supporting editorial content through visual design.
  • Experience in the humanitarian, non-profit, or faith-based sector is an advantage but not required.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Fluency in both written and spoken English

TRAVEL AND/OR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work from home position

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (especially InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (especially PowerPoint and Word), Google Suite and Canva for design adaptation.
  • Understanding of pre-press and digital output requirements.
  • Strong typographic skills and understanding of layout principles (grid, hierarchy, accessibility).
  • Familiarity with asset management systems
