About MCDO
Mother and Child Development Organization is a non-governmental, non-political, non-religious and non-profit making indigenous organization established to improve the livelihood of impoverished women and children directly working at the grass root level with the local communities to address their needs to enhance sustainable development in Somali region and Ethiopia since 1997.
About the Role
The M&E Officer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing refinement of the project’s M&E activities. They will ensure accurate data collection, timely reporting, and informed decision-making for program improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement M&E plans in line with project goals and donor requirements.
- Design data collection tools and systems for monitoring project outputs, outcomes, and impact.
- Conduct baseline, midline, and endline surveys where required.
- Coordinate and ensure the quality and consistency of data collected across sites.
- Analyze data and produce timely reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with project teams to ensure M&E findings are integrated into program planning and improvement.
- Train project staff and partners on M&E systems and tools.
- Maintain a project database and ensure secure, organized storage of M&E data.
- Support preparation for audits, evaluations, and donor reviews.
- Assist in the development of success stories, case studies, and other learning materials.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards and data protection policies.
About You
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field.
- At least 4 years of experience in M&E, preferably in the development or humanitarian sector.
- Strong understanding of logical frameworks, Theory of Change, and results-based management.
- Experience with both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
- Proficiency in M&E software and tools (e.g., Excel, KoboToolbox, ODK, SPSS, STATA, Power BI).
- Excellent reporting and data visualization skills.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and teamwork skills.

- Approved M&E plan and framework.
- Regular M&E reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
- Survey tools and data collection instruments.
- Training sessions conducted for field staff.
- Final evaluation and lessons-learned report.
