Project Harar Ethiopia is a charity founded with the mission of providing vital medical support to children and young adults in Ethiopia who suffer from facial disfigurements. Since its inception, Project Harar has expanded its reach, helping thousands of individuals with conditions ranging from cleft lips and palates to other complex facial deformities. The story of children treated during the beginning of the project remains a powerful testament to the impact of the charity’s work and continues to inspire its mission to bring hope and healing to many more in need. Still now Project Harar Ethiopia is actively engaged in addressing cleft lip and palate across all regions of Ethiopia.

To ensure the successful implementation of this critical program, project Harar Ethiopia seeks to strengthen its human resources by recruiting highly qualified and motivated individuals to fill the Monitoring and Evaluation.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Salary: According to the organisation’s salary scale
  • Duration of employment: One year possibility of extension based on performance and availability of fund after 45 probation period.

About the Role

Project Harar is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officer to lead the project implementation, and oversight of a robust M&E system across our programs. You will play a critical role in ensuring data-driven decision-making, program effectiveness, and accountability to donors and beneficiaries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the program team, develop programme M&E framework, database and strategic plan
  • Develop clear M&E frameworks, indicators, and data collection tools for all Project Harar Ethiopia programs.
  • Work with programme coordinators team and field staff to develop M&E plans and tools for capturing data from various projects.
  • Lead M&E trainings, annual project reviews, participatory impact assessments, process monitoring, operations monitoring and lessons-learned workshops.
  • Guide the process for identifying the specific project and develop tools for project/programme monitoring
  • Guide and supervise consultants contracted to conduct project evaluations.
  • Foster participatory planning and monitoring by training and involving staff and partners in M&E activities.
  • Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting for all programs.
  • Prepare and present regular M&E reports that summarize findings, lessons learned, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure that documentation related to M&E activities is accurate, complete, and accessible.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality M&E reports are submitted to donors and stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular program evaluations to assess effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and inform future programming.
  • Work closely with program teams to integrate M&E principles into program design, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Advocate for the use of M&E data for evidence-based decision-making across the organization.
  • Represent Project Harar in M&E-related meetings with donors, government officials, and partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

About You

Qualifications:

  • MSC in Monitoring and Evaluation, Maters in Public health (MPH), Statistics, Economics or a related field.
  • At least Eight years of experience in M&E, with a proven track record of leading and managing M&E systems in an NGO setting or in Zonal health office ,Regional Health Bureaus and Federal Organizations
  • Strong understanding and experience in developing M&E frameworks, indicators, and data collection tools.
  • Excellent analytical and data management skills
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Fluency in English and Amharic (written and verbal) and proficiency in MS Office Suite. Other local languages have value.
