Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate and talented Music Teacher to join our team at Homosha Girls’ Boarding School. The Music Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging, age-appropriate music lessons that inspire creativity, self-expression, and confidence in our students. This role includes classroom teaching, organizing music clubs and performances, and nurturing students’ musical talents in both vocal and instrumental disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach music theory, vocal techniques, and basic instrumental skills to students across different grades.
  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive music curriculum aligned with national standards and the school’s values.
  • Identify and support students with exceptional musical talent and encourage participation in school-wide events.
  • Organize and lead extracurricular activities such as choir, music clubs, and school performances.
  • Prepare students for musical presentations, concerts, and competitions.
  • Foster an inclusive and encouraging classroom environment that celebrates diverse musical styles and cultures.
  • Manage music room inventory, care for instruments, and request new materials when needed.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff on cross-disciplinary arts or cultural projects.
  • Maintain records of student progress and contribute to school reports and evaluations.
  • Promote student confidence, creativity, and team spirit through music education.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Music Education or a related field.
  • Prior experience teaching music in a school setting (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Proficiency in at least one musical instrument and in vocal training.
  • Ability to read and teach music notation, theory, and rhythm.
  • Passion for working with adolescent girls in a boarding school environment.
  • Excellent classroom management and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Fluency in Amharic required; knowledge of English is an advantage.
  • Willingness to live and work in a rural setting. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
