Job Description

Sele Enat Charitable Organization (SECO) is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of vulnerable children and women in Ethiopia. We strive to provide holistic support, empower communities, and foster sustainable development. We are currently seeking a highly experienced, strategic, and passionate Program Director to lead our impactful programs.

Position Summary:

The Program Director will be a key leader within SECO, responsible for providing strategic vision, oversight, and effective management for all of SECO’s programs, with a particular focus on orphanage programs and women’s empowerment initiatives. The successful candidate will drive program excellence, ensure sustainable growth in resource-limited environments, and foster strong relationships with stakeholders. This role requires a strong understanding of program development, policy formulation, safeguarding, and effective evaluation methodologies within the non-profit sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Vision & Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and articulate a comprehensive vision for exemplary orphanage programs, ensuring holistic well-being and long-term healthy development of children.
  • Formulate and implement strategic approaches for creating and maintaining impactful and sustainable programs for vulnerable children and women in resource-constrained settings.
  • Drive innovation in program design and delivery.
  • Program Management & Implementation:
  • Oversee the effective planning, execution, and monitoring of all SECO programs.
  • Develop and implement child-centred intervention plans for behavioural challenges, engaging relevant stakeholders and external professionals.
  • Strategically initiate, develop, and sustain new programs, such as women’s vocational training, even within financial limitations, identifying innovative resource mobilization strategies.

Policy Development & Safeguarding:

  • Draft and implement robust emergency response policies and procedures for the orphanage, defining roles, responsibilities, and communication protocols.
  • Develop and enforce comprehensive Child and Women Safeguarding policies, including preventative measures, clear reporting mechanisms, and investigation procedures for concerns.

Resource Mobilization & Sustainability:

  • Proactively identify and pursue diversified funding opportunities to ensure program continuity and growth, especially in response to funding reductions.
  • Develop strategies for community engagement and local ownership to enhance program sustainability.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning:

  • Design and implement comprehensive methodologies to assess program effectiveness and impact, utilizing SMART metrics.
  • Translate evaluation findings into actionable insights for continuous program improvement and adaptation.
  • Effectively communicate program findings to all stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate program staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with orphanage staff, caregivers, external professionals, and community members

About You

  • Proven 4 years of experience in program management and leadership within the non-profit sector, particularly in areas related to child welfare and women’s empowerment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement sustainable programs in resource-limited environments.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Extensive experience in policy development, particularly in safeguarding and emergency response.
  • Proven track record in successful resource mobilization and donor relations.
  • Expertise in program monitoring, evaluation, and adaptive management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • A deep commitment to SECO’s mission and values.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Development Studies, Public Health, Management) is highly preferred.
