Organizational Profile

 MERSA Media Institute is a nonprofit media policy think tank. We work to help create vibrant, responsible, and independent media institutions, professional unions, and education centers through research, capacity building, and institutional support in Ethiopia.

Position Summary: 

MERSA Media Institute, organizes training under the Sustainable Media Education (SME) project. The training will be a journalism crash course where trainees from different educational backgrounds will get to experience hands-on journalism education delivered by industry experts. The SME Project Lead will be responsible for supporting the overall management and execution of the SME Project.

This role will require strong leadership, organizational, and technical skills to ensure the successful delivery of the project within the specified timeframe and budget under the supervision of the Project Manager in collaboration with authorized staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing a detailed project plan, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with trainers to finalize training modules, schedules, and logistics.
  • Coordinate with participants to ensure timely registration and participation.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders, such as the project manager and other team members, to align project activities.
  • Support trainers in delivering high-quality training content.
  • Provide guidance and support to participants throughout the training program.
  • Address participant queries and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Collect data on participant feedback and training outcomes.
  • Assist in conducting training survey evaluations to assess the impact of the training.
  • Prepare regular progress reports on project activities and outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of participant information, training materials, and financial transactions.
  • Prepare necessary documentation, such as training certificates and reports.
  • Assist in the procurement of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Perform any other related task as may be assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Media Studies, Communication, Social Studies, Medicine or a related field.
  • At least 0-2 years of experience in project management, training, or media-related work.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software, including project management tools and data analysis software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A passion for education.
