Job Description

Job Summary 

The School Feeding Officer will provide oversight of the school feeding program at the refugee camp. He/she will support the program by implementing one hot meal a day for students, for one year. School meals are a strong incentive for children to go to school, and to stay in school, focusing on their education, rather than on hunger.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Provide leadership to school feeding staff and ensure compliance with school feeding standard operating procedures, organizational guidelines and policies.
  • Ensure compliance, including financial tracking and oversight of budget, administration and reporting.
  • Coordinate relationships with key stakeholders for the smooth and efficient implementation of project activities and to create a culture of learning and cooperation among partners and project staff.
  • Liaise with school, local government, and community leaders to ensure effective and efficient program implementation.
  • Ensure safeguarding of children at all stages of the implementation of the project.
  • Monitor and supervise program quality and compliance with set standards.
  • Produce and share weekly, monthly, end of term and annual reports.
  • Provide feedback on the lessons learned from the implementation of field activities and make recommendations for improvements as required.
  • Manages the performance of School Feeding staff.
  • Organize logistic components to ensure program supplies are in adequate measures in the school at all times.
  • Support the MEAL plan is implemented.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Education / Experience Needed

  • Bachelors degree in public health, nutrition, education, or community development
  • A minimum of 3yrs experience in project management in the humanitarian sector. Experience with school feeding preferred
  • Experience working with vulnerable youth and children
  • Experience with report writing and budget management

LANGUAGE 

  • Proficiency in English and Amharic
  • Knowledge of the regional language required
  • Knowledge of any other national language is a plus
