About This Role

The Senior Field Coordinator is responsible to ensure coordination and implementation of the Joining Forces for Food Security and Child Protection in Emergency project activities at Wukro Town.  The position holder will closely work with woreda and regional level stakeholders.  He/she is also responsible for compiling and timely submission of reports to the Senior Project Coordinator.  

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Project Coordination, Implementation, and Management
  • Ensure timely and quality implementation of the project activities in accordance with specified project minimum standards including community and child friendly feedback mechanisms, Safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual, Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH), Gender & Inclusion in humanitarian settings, and Communication and Project Detail implementation Plan (DIP)
  • Coordinate activities and take responsibility to ensure that the emergency response activities are not duplicated by other partners implementing IDPs, returnees and host community responses in the community.
  • Coordinate field level baseline and end line evaluation process as well as assessment of the existing data on targeted project participants and their needs.
  • Participate in emergency coordination meetings (child protection, food security, and nutrition clusters) at woreda and zonal level as appropriate and update the project Country Management Team and Line Manager regularly on the meeting updates and findings.
  • Ensure children and community feedback is regularly collected, analyzed, and timely and appropriate measures are taken.
  • Provide and facilitate trainings and orientation for field staffs and government employees.
  •  Actively facilitate information-sharing, collaboration, and cross-learning processes.
  • Cooperate with contracted consultants to work on the activities and objectives listed in the work plan and ensure that their work is conducted in a timely manner and with high quality.
  • Regularly mentor, couch, lead, and conduct performance appraisals of Community Mobilizers and Volunteers and ensure regular feedback.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with woreda level stakeholders
  • Ensure meaningful child participation in the project and ensure proactive feedback is actively solicited from children, adolescents, and communities.
  • Liaise with target IDP sites leaders, Community Based Child Protection Mechanisms, Health facilities, One-Stop centers, and government authorities at woreda and Zonal level
  • Coordinate and follow the provision and fixing of donor visibility items in the implementation areas in collaboration with the Project Country Management Team.
  • Work with collaboration with other project staffs

​​​​​2. Reporting and MELK (Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, and Knowledge Management)

  • Regularly compile project reports including high level regular reports and updates as per agreed reporting schedule and the format of reporting.
  • Conduct Child Protection Monitoring, compile, analyze, interpret data, and report for update and action.
  • Facilitate regular assessment about IDPs and the hosting community,
  • Coordinate baseline and End line surveys in collaboration with Country Management Team.
  • Makes sure the registration is done according to the selection criteria
  • Coordinate and involve in the beneficiary identification, selection and verification.
  • Update the emergency and security update of the project implementation and other surrounding areas.
  • monitoring and evaluation of the projects against its objectives and expected results.
  1. Accountability and Safeguarding including Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH)
  • Be Safeguarding Focal Person of the project target area, remain alert, and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with Child fund’s Child Safeguarding Policy.
  • Implement Safeguarding measures throughout the project cycle including a risk analysis related to PSEAH and Child protection for the project and develop a mitigation plan accordingly.
  • Carry out the duties in accordance with the Specified Project Minimum Standards, Code of Conduct and Key policies.
  • Participate in training and awareness raising
  • Ensure that his/her team members attend training and awareness sessions and carry out the duties in accordance with Minimum Standards, Code of Conduct and Key policies.
  • Ensure that due diligence and/or capacity assessments of partners include an assessment of partners implementation of key safeguarding and risk policies/ procedure including the prevention of SEAH.
  • Create and maintain a fulfilling and protective environment.

Required Experience and Education

Education: BA/BSC degree in Gender, Social Work, Food Security, Sociology, Psychology, Social Anthropology, Community Development, Development Studies and related fields.

  • At least 4 years of experience in similar position preferably with an INGO.
  • Professional experience in Food Security and Child Protection in Emergency programming, Nutrition, Gender, SGBV, MHPSS, and Cash Distribution in the humanitarian aid/development context.
  • Good communication skills in English, written and verbal
  • Strong planning, monitoring, reporting   and documentation of lessons learned
  • Strong experience in collaborating and partnering with the government and other partners
  • Proven operational level experience
  • Good understanding of the external operating environment including government policies, strategies, guidelines, and operating procedures in managing emergencies and the actual situation of the conflict affected areas of Tigray region
  • Good understanding and Experience in Child Protection Case Management, Child Friendly Spaces, interventions related to Food Security, Nutrition, psychosocial support, and adolescent Life Skill.
