Job Purpose:

To make sure the General Food Distribution and School Feeding commodities are handled properly, safe storage condition and ensuring the transaction using bin cards, stock cards and inventory tools in close coordination with other JEOP field teams and a line manager

Major Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper handling of warehouse goods and properties with consistent management and use goods receiving notes, good issue and bin-card.
  • Ensure proper reconciliation of physical count with bin cards and stock cards and report the results to the commodity accountant/line manager regularly.
  • Whenever there are missing, damaged, broken or spoiled items, reports immediately to the JEOP.2.0 /WFP facilitators, and writes the condition on the receiving waybill; Keeps under his/her custody all commodity and commodity related supplies, fixed assets, etc. of the organization;
  • Issues supplies, commodities, etc. to requisitioning units upon receipt of duly signed store material requisition; Dispatches all items/commodities against approved official Store requisition pads of WVE.
  • Designs appropriate storage arrangements in the stores for efficient utilization of the available space, and to allow easy movement of people in the store;
  • Gives identification labels to commodity stacks.  Sorts out all commodity received by types and according to their classifications, and stores them, allocating available space of the store economically and diligently,
  • Ensures the security of commodity in the store against damage, theft, deterioration, hazards, such as dirt, fire, rain water, etc. and makes sure that necessary protective equipment and chemicals are provided for and the store is kept neat and clean;
  • Takes physical inventory count on daily bases and during the year at regular intervals to ensure that physical inventory and bin card balances always tally;
  • Supervises loading, unloading of items/commodities and performance of laborers;
  • Records all incoming and outgoing commodities in bin cards.  Bin cards are to be stuck or hung on each commodity stack to facilitate identification and inventory counting;
  • Files properly all documents such as delivery order, waybill, Bin Card, etc.;
  • Periodically check records against stocks held and submits report;
  • Maintains an accurate record of all-stock movements and current balances;
  • The storekeeper is required to work closely with the immediate supervisor, and collaborate with all FO, Project/Program staff.
  • Create well-structured filing system & ensure a system of STAMP on the supporting documents (waybills, models etc.)

Required Professional Experience

  • Minimum 2 years and above in a similar or related positions of food assistance projects

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  • Degree /diploma in Accounting, Business, supply chain and related field
  • Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Ability to perform field assignments and willingness to travel for long period of time in difficult terrain, harsh and demanding conditions.
  • Computer literacy is an added advantage

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

  • Office-based with periodic travel to the field

Language Requirements

  •  Good command of oral and written English
