About Deborah Foundation
Established in 2019, Deborah Foundation is a registered non-profit organization in Ethiopia with a mission to improve the lives of children with Down Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities through support in Health, Education, and Policy Advocacy.
Summary:
Subject Teachers are responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing instruction in their respective subject areas. They create engaging, standards-aligned lessons that cater to the diverse needs and learning styles of their students. Subject Teachers collaborate with their colleagues, integrate technology, and foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment to support students’ academic and personal growth.
Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive, standards-based lesson plans and unit plans that align with the school’s curriculum and learning objectives
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to foster a productive and nurturing classroom culture
- Provide individualized support, accommodations, and interventions to meet the unique needs of each student
- Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student performance and behavior
- Choose and apply instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for the teaching and learning activities.
- Facilitating lessons in a manner that will be effective despite a student’s disability.
- Utilize games, music, books, art, technology and other resources to teach basic skills and foster student development.
- Change up the way of teaching in order to accommodate the requirements and interests of various students.
- Create a positive and appropriate classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Develop and implement a suitable classroom management system.
- Establish and create rules for acceptable behavior.
- Apply and follow up on approved disciplinary interventions.
- Encourage cooperative social behavior through games and activities.
- Observe, evaluate and record children’s social and academic progress.
- Provide constructive feedback to parents, guardians and administration.
- Plan and order classroom equipment and supplies.
- Ensure equipment and facilities are clean and safe.
- Collaborate with other staff members to promote the general health of the school.
- Perform required administrative duties including attending staff meetings.
- Uphold the school code of conduct and all school policies, rules and procedures in a supportive and positive manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the School and Special needs Head.
Salary – Gross salary ETB 10,000
About You
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject area or a related field
- 0 years of teaching experience
- Strong content knowledge and pedagogical skills in the subject area
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills
- Previous experience working with students with special needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of teaching practices for students with special needs.
- Knowledge of current educational and instructional methodologies and techniques
- Ability to work effectively with diverse students, families, and colleagues
