Job Description
Background: The Network of Ethiopian Women’s Associations (NEWA) is a non-partisan, non-governmental network organization established in 2003, and currently NEWA has 38-member local organizations and associations seeking to create a stronger advocacy voice for women’s advancement. NEWA has a twofold goal: synchronizing the individual activities of women’s associations into an integrated collective effort and synergy to realize their common aspirations for gender equality; and launching a vigorous public campaign of promotion, advocacy, and lobbying for women’s rights.
Call for Expression of Interest
NEWA with the support from UNICEF is implementing a project entitled as “EmpoweringWomen-Led Associations and Community Structures to Strengthen Grassroots and National Movements to End Child Marriage, FGM, and Violence Against Women.”
The project is being implemented at both the national level and across three regions: Amhara, Oromia, and Somali. The project generally aimed to build a mass movement around ending child marriage, FGM and violence through strategic engagement of women and youth-led organizations and their allies at different levels.
Among the key activities under this project are developing toolkits for NEWA, member organizations and community structures on community mobilization, advocacy strategy and integrating FGM, Child Marriage and Violence within humanitarian programming. These toolkits or guidelines will be used to build institutional capacity of institutions stated with tools needed for undertaking effective to conduct evidence based tailored advocacy, community mobilization and integrating FGM, CM and violences with in humanitarian programming.
