Project Title: Promoting Awareness and Implementation of the African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP) in Ethiopia

1. Introduction

Advocacy Centre for Democracy and Development (ACDD), registered under civil society proclamation number 4867 and established on April 3, 2020, is a nonprofit civic organization based in Ethiopia. ACDD is dedicated to advancing democratic governance and inclusive development by promoting evidence-based advocacy, research, civic education, and community empowerment. Through strategic media engagement, capacity building, and multi-stakeholder dialogue, ACDD focuses on issues of peacebuilding, human rights, conflict resolution, and transitional justice.

As part of its collaborative project with the African Transitional Justice Legacy Fund (ATJLF), supported by the EU-funded Initiative for Transitional Justice in Africa, ACDD is implementing several initiatives aimed at promoting the African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP) and its local relevance in Ethiopia. One of the core activities of this project is the production and dissemination of three short animated videos (5–7 minutes each) to raise awareness among the general public in Ethiopia about the principles, mechanisms, and local relevance of the AUTJP.

2. Objective

The main objective of this assignment is to translate the English-language scripts into Amharic, Tigrigna, Afan Oromo and Af-Somali, and to deliver professional voiceovers in these languages that will be integrated into the final animation videos. The goal is to ensure that the content is linguistically accurate, culturally appropriate, and easily understandable by target audiences across Ethiopia.

3. Scope of Work

The selected professionals will be responsible for translating English scripts into three languages, each ranging from 5 to 7 minutes in length, from English into Amharic, Tigrigna, Afan Oromo and Af-Somali. The translations must retain the original meaning while ensuring cultural and contextual relevance for the intended audiences. In addition to translation, the professional will record clear, engaging, and high-quality voiceovers in each of the three languages. The final audio files should be delivered in formats suitable for seamless integration with content. Throughout the process, the professional will collaborate closely with ACDD’s team to ensure that the voiceovers are properly synchronized with the animation sequences.

4. Deliverables

• Translated scripts per language.
• One voiceover audio files per language, clearly named and aligned with each script.
• Final delivery of all content in editable and final audio formats (e.g., WAV/MP3) ready for post-production.

5. Duration

The assignment is expected to be completed within 10 days from the date of contract signing.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in professional translation and voiceover work, especially for social development or educational content.
• Fluency in English and native fluency in either Amharic, Tigrigna, Afan Oromo and Af-Somali.
• Ability to deliver high-quality audio recordings using professional equipment.
• Experience working on civic education, human rights, or transitional justice content is an asset.
