Job Description

Introduction to Christian Blind Mission – CBM

CBM is a Christian international development organization, committed to improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in the poorest communities of the world irrespective of race, gender or religious belief. Disability-inclusive development is the framework of all our initiatives and the key theme which drives our activities and the impact of our work. We believe that this is the most effective way to bring positive change to the lives of people with disabilities living in poverty and their communities. Through our disability-inclusive development approach, we address the barriers that hinder access and participation and actively seek to ensure the full participation of people with disabilities as empowered self-advocates in all development and emergency response processes.

CBM requires the services of a professional videographer/video production company to produce three (3) impactful, high-quality videos of approximately five (5) minutes each.

Background and objective of the event

Event 1: COECSA 12th Annual Congress

The 12th Annual Congress of the College of Ophthalmology of Eastern, Central, and Southern Africa (COECSA) will take place from 20th to 22nd August 2025 at the distinguished Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This prestigious event will be proudly hosted by the Ophthalmological Society of Ethiopia (OSE).

Under the theme “Advancing Tertiary Eye Care Services in the COECSA Region: The Time is Now,” the congress will convene over 650 participants, including ophthalmologists, eye care professionals, researchers, and policymakers from across the COECSA region, as well as international delegates from Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America.

The congress aims to serve as a dynamic platform for the exchange of knowledge, presentation of cutting-edge research, and strategic collaboration to enhance tertiary eye care services across the region. As a Gold Sponsor, CBM will play a prominent role in this year’s congress. CBM will showcase a high-quality, five-minute video presentation highlighting its impactful work in Inclusive Eye Health and Trachoma Control. The video will illustrate CBM’s comprehensive approach, including:

  • Infrastructure development to support sustainable eye care delivery,
  • Human resource capacity building through training and education,
  • Provision of essential medical equipment, instruments, and supplies to ensure high-quality and accessible services,
  • And its integrated WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) strategy to combat trachoma and reduce its prevalence in Ethiopia.

Event 2: High-Level Advocacy Event on Disability Inclusion

CBM will host an event on August 20, 2025, to celebrate the Resilience of Persons with Disabilities in Ethiopia. This event aims to celebrate the resilience of persons with disabilities in Ethiopia, provide a platform for inclusive dialogue among stakeholders and contribute to advocate for the increased investment to disability focused interventions. CBM International through its ongoing commitment to disability inclusion, will advocates for the rights of persons with disabilities and strengthen partnerships with key government actors, international organizations, and development actors.

Objectives of the Event:

  • To celebrate and recognize the resilience, strength, and achievements of persons with disabilities in Ethiopia.
  • To advocate for increased investment to improve the lives of persons with disabilities in Ethiopia.
  • To promote dialogue and coordination among OPDs, government actors, donors, INGOs, and civil society on disability inclusion

Scope of Work
The selected company/freelancer will be responsible for:

Pre-Production

  • Collaborate with CBM to understand objectives, target audiences, and key messages
  • Develop a detailed storyboard and script for the three videos based on CBM’s guidance
  • Plan logistics for field shooting, including locations in:
    • Hossana School for the Deaf (Hossana)
    • Grarbet Tehadso Mahber (Butajira)
    • ALERT Comprehensive Hospital (Addis Ababa)
  • Obtain necessary permissions and coordinate with individuals to be featured

Production

  • Conduct on-site filming in selected locations
  • Capture high-quality, human-interest footage aligned with ethical storytelling standards
  • Ensure accessibility features including sign language interpretation, English subtitles, and inclusive messaging

Post-Production

  • Edit and produce three 5-minute videos incorporating interviews, visuals, historical narratives, music, and voiceover
  • Ensure emotional, engaging content consistent with CBM’s branding and values
  • Provide draft versions for CBM’s review and revise based on feedback
  • Final videos to be provided in high-resolution formats suitable for presentation and digital platforms

During the Event (on August 20, 2024)

  • Take photographs of the event, different event participants,
  • Capture a video of the different aspects of the event

Final Deliverables:

  • Three 5 minutes high-definition videos in a format suitable for online distribution and presentations.
  • All raw footage and source files.
  • A version of the video with subtitles in the required languages (if applicable).
  • Pictures and videos of the event.

Timeline

  • The video production process is expected to take approximately 2 weeks from the date of contract signing.

About You

Qualifications

The video production company/Freelancer must have:

  • Proven experience in producing high-quality human-interest stories.
  • A strong portfolio of previous work, preferably in the non-profit or development sector.
  • Experience in field production, particularly in diverse and challenging environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate closely with CBM’s team.

Submission Requirements

Interested companies/Freelancer should submit the following:

  • A brief proposal outlining their approach to this project, including an estimated budget.
  • A portfolio of similar work, including at least three examples of human-interest stories.
  • A timeline for completing the project.
  • References from previous clients.

Payment Terms

  • Payments will be made in installments, with the schedule to be negotiated upon contract signing.

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated based on the following:

  • Quality and relevance of the portfolio.
  • Proposed approach and creativity.
  • Experience in producing human interest stories.
  • Proposed budget and timeline.
  • References from previous clients.

Confidentiality
All information provided by CBM for the purposes of this project must be kept confidential and must not be disclosed without prior written consent from CBM.

Rights

  • CBM reserves the right to use the final video in its communications, fundraising, and awareness-raising efforts. The video production company will be credited accordingly, but CBM will retain full ownership of the video and all associated materials.

Ethical Considerations

  • The video production process must adhere to ethical guidelines, particularly regarding the portrayal of individuals with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. Consent must be obtained from all individuals featured in the video.

Contractual Arrangements

  • A contract will be drawn up between CBM and the selected video production company, outlining the terms of reference, deliverables, timeline, and payment schedule.

All applications should include the following:

Letter of expression of interest

Technical proposal: This should include, at a minimum:

  • Consultants’ profile with particular emphasis on previous experience on similar work
  • Description of the proposed content development approach and methodology, including understanding of the ToR and the tasks to be accomplished
  • Proposed work plan including the expected level of effort and number of working days.

Financial proposal, which should:

  • Be clear and demonstrate outputs
  • Be inclusive of all costs required to render the services and achieve the deliverable of this ToR
  • Price for the Human-Interest Stories and the event should be separately put. (Price should not be a lumpsum for the two components).

Copy of Tax Identification Number (TIN)
